Buds Team makes it to the finals. They seem to have a really good squad this season. Isnt Latta still hurt too?

Trimback, it looks like Tri State had a good tournament too. Some of the players said they are much improved from last season, and you guys picked up some really good additions.

Any game reports from up there? Especially the Tri State vs Jr Flyers U18 quarter final game.

Tristate: 2
Jr Flyers: 3

Not sure how Jr Flyers and a few other teams got a bye to play first game at 11:10. TriState had to get up and play at 8:30 then play Jr Flyers at 11:10 since they won the 8:30 game. Both teams won their brackets, I never understand why they do this stuff up in Boston. Everyone should be playing same amount of games going into playoffs on Sunday.

Could it have to do with they won their division beating teams 5 goals or better. You are a Jr. team aren't you. I also believe the games were only 30 minutes total and a jr. team should play these with little or no problem. Why don't you give any credit. I see the Jr. flyers won 5 straight games before getting into the championship. I am sure in a Jr. tourn. that is pretty good.

It's hard to tell where you stand when you play in this tournament. Not all the teams are the regular season teams. Like TriState and Jr Flyers for the most part was there regular teams (minus a few), but teams like NJ Hitmen were half their JR A team and half their Jr B team.

gates,

Why do goals matter? Rules state Winner of each bracket advances, doesn't say anything about certain teams getting byes because of points.

As for the game length, it shouldn't matter on game length or level of play. U16, U18, Jr A and Jr B should all be capable of playing 30 minute games. It's the idea of making other teams get up earlier and play more games than other teams that is stupid.

Not much of a difference between the times. and you were playing a 18u team with a lot of 92 birth year players.I am sure they were up early also and they did play their last game later than yours team did. never the less I don't think that would make that much of a difference. If you would have won this tourn. you would have most likey said. good tourn we have a good team. great competition. I think it was a good achievement for any U18 team to go into this tourn and get into the championship game. Good luck to your team this season.

Not sure what U-18 versus Jr B has to do with it. Because the TriState team is very young also overall.

Jr Flyers:
5 -92's
6 -91's
9 -90's

11 kids 1991 and under
9 kids 1990 and over

TriState:
1 -93
2 -92's
13 -91's
1 -90 (Wasnt at tournament)
3 - 89's (Only 1 at tournament)
2 - 88's (only 1 at tournament)

16 kids 1991 and under
6 kids 1990 and over (only 2 at tournament)

I didn't take anything away from either team in my above post, both teams had a good tournament. I only mentioned the playoff system seems a little quirky. We did have a good tournament 4-1 only losing by 1 goal in the playoff rounds. Was it great competition? I don't think it was for every game.

BTW, Jr Flyers last game was 4:30 our last game was 5:00. Your coach came and watched the finish of our game after your game was over.

Didn't Bud's team crush Tri-State last year?

How's the Jr. Flyer AJHL team looking?

Yea, but Tri State picked up alot of really good players from the U16 national league last year. Plus they have an awesome goalie this year too. Much improved team, maybe the best Jr B team in the area.

Snipe,

Not sure how most of the Jr teams are this year, lots of them keep the rosters hidden until season time. They are afraid of losing players.

hgp fan,

Seems like the kids have lots of chemistry this year also. My son is paired up with his old linemate on defense from when he played for Jr Phantoms/Team Comcast.

I don't think the hitmen have a JR B team

chockey,

The Hitmen have an independent Jr B team this year, they can't have a Jr B team in the Empire until they work it out with the NJ Wildcats. Territory protection issue.

I know one of the ex tristate defenseman is playing there because its closer to home.

Added: (from Hitmen front page)
Hitmen add new Junior team for 2008-2009

Wayne, NJ - Jersey Hitmen will be fielding an Independent Junior/U-19 Development Team for the 2008-2009 season. The purpose of this development team is to identify and train legititmate prospects using the same model that the Hitmen team currently employs.

Not sure who you are referring to but Lamont & Macalino sure looked to be a winning combination with each of them racking up 13 pts!

TMD101,

I think your right, but throw all those previous points out. Just look at Sunday's goals, when scoring was very limited for Jr Flyers. Those two guys had 3 of the 4 goals in the three games.
