how does everyone rank up the main jr leages, what i am saying is just my guess but i am curious to hear what others think

Jr A:
USHL
NAHL
EJHL
AJHL

Jr B:
CSHL
Empire
CHL
MNJHL

If we are to include a canadian league i would put the OPJHL infront of or tied with EJHL

Just with all of the leauge choices now what does everyone feel are the legit and respectable leagues, i mean our area alone has over 6 "Jr" leauges and we prob only have the talent for 1 and 1/2 respectable jr teams.

If this post doesn't make alot of sense sorry its 3:20AM and i can't sleep..

I think your ranking is pretty close to accurate although in Jr B - I would place the MNJHL higher - its tough to say where exactly but...

Food for thought: Here are the (partial) numbers for D-I Scholarships for this year:

Jr A
USHL - 111
NAHL - 56
EJHL - 50
USNTDP - 20

Jr B
CSHL - 1
Empire - 1

Prep/HS - 44
AAA - 7

It was hard for me to place the MNHL becuase they always send great players on to JR A, but nobody really makes it straight from MNHL and those kids tend to be younger so head to head I think other JR B leauges have better players at the time they are playing Jr B.

Another thing our local AJHL team (little flyers) is made up for mostly local kids, are the other teams in the leauges build on the same structure of mostly local kids..

I think the Ajhl should be given more consideration as a good league. The scholarships will come, as the league grows. Not sure the EJhl league is on the same level as the O and Q leagues in Canada though

OPJHL = Ontario Provincial Jr Hockey League (Tier II Jr A)

OHL = Ontario Hockey League (Mrj Jr - Tier I Jr A) aka The "O"

QMJHL = Quebec Major Junior Hockey Leage (Mrj Jr - Tier I Jr A) aka The "Q"

honestly, the ajhl is just as skilled as the ejhl, it just hasnt gotten the rep that the ejhl has since its only been around for a few years now, it has been proved in the junior jamboree where the 2 leagues split their games vs each other, eventually the aj will send just as many as the ej, once its reputation is built up

I don't doubt there are some very talented players in the EJ but to even compare it to The three Major Junior Leagues (OHL,QMJHL,WHL) is a bit of a joke. Almost every team in these three leagues would beat up badly on USHL teams and completly destroy EJ teams. It is big business up there. Most teams play to full houses with jersey sales, sovingers, entertainment ,fanavision in most building and the NHL stars of tomorrow. The biggest names in the game never play a day in the AHL but usually 3 years at Major Junior.

It's a big diiference yes. Major Jr hockey in Canada is almost pro hockey. That is one reason that a player loses NCAA eligibilty if they play in any of those three leagues.

USHL teams would be very competetive in the Q, although if the leagues were combined this season, the top 3 or 4 teams would probably be from the Q. i think the ushl was 3-1 in exhibition play vs Q teams this year. keep in mind ushl teams lose most of their top end talent to ncaa before they age out, while the chl teams only loses a few to the nhl per year per league. top to bottom the whl is the top junior league in north america.

HGP Fan,
I don't doubt the USHL was 3-1 in pre season play against the Q. However have you considered that most teams have anywhere from 3-7 of their top players away at NHL camps during the preseason and only get them back right before the season begins and sometimes after a few regular season games. Major Junior has more younger players than the USHL but also has more older players. The USHL usually won't take 16 & 17 year old players unless they are stars. Then when they turn 19 most are in College playing NCAA Hockey. That is probally the biggest reason the USHL cannot compete with Major Junior in Canada. The older players dominate.

Also, last year the WHL had more players drafed in the first round than the OHL but historically the OHL has been number one. This year as many as four of the top 10 players to be taken in the NHL draft could come from the OHL. The OHL has the most parity with all 20 teams being competitive. The reason is Ontario has by far the biggest population of the three leagues.

Just throwin this out there but the opjhl is way more skilled than the ejhl being the fact that im playing in the op now. If anything id put it either tied with or above the nahl.
