After some drama with his AJHL team Rocco Carzo has been signed by Des Moinis in the USHL. Rocco was having a terrific year leading the AJHL in points and congratulations to him for moving to Tier 1 Jr hockey.

What drama? Were they not going to release him or trade him to De Moines?
I don't know both sides of the story of the release but its good he is getting a shot at a higher level since last year the AJHL had 0 D1 scholarships so if they are not putting players in the next level than its good they are getting them to a leave where they will have a chance to get legit D1 looks.
Not sure when you saw him play "average" last year he played in the AJ and had a pretty good year but remember he was only a sophmore in high school, when he played for O'hara he was a freshmen on a stacked team but was one of the top forwards, and when he played Midget 16 for the little flyers and was the best player on the team that year..

Yes, the AJ puts very few kids in D1 schools, although there have been a few. Most use it as a stepping stone to the USHL or NAHL where they get better looks from D1 schools. Congrats to Rocco! I hope he does well.
