Does anyone else think fighting should be taken out of american jr hockey leagues. The point of Jr hockey is to prepare the players for college level hockey and your not allowed to fight in NCAA or ACHA so what's the point of fighting in american jr hockey?

there should definitely be fighting. just because kids are playing junior hockey, doesnt mean their aspirations are to play college hockey. some want to play major junior or ushl. some would like to play lower level pro, like the echl, where if you cant fight, you probably shouldnt even take the ice.

if your an american kid going up north to play major junior, you better know how to fight too, because your gonna get chirped all year long. this wouldnt be too big of an issue 5-10 years ago when most atlantic district kids didnt go major junior. now theres about 10 or 12 playing there, and that number will likely increase in the next couple of years.

I am also talking about the USHL

most players don't go from Jr A american hockey to major jr in Canada, most do play NCAA

if the ushl took out fighting, it would lose its tier 1 status, and thats not going to happen. plus it would be looked down upon by canadians.

even though there isnt fighting in college, there is in the pros, and until that changes, there will continue to be fighting in junior hockey.
