In SHSHL:
North Penn 5 CR South 3

CR North 5 Pennridge 2

NP and Cr South was close the whole game. CR South scored 2 goals 5 on 3.

CR North was up 4 - 0 4 minutes into game. Pretty uneventful from there on

Springfield 3
Radnor 1

radnor scored short handed in the first. Than springfield killed a 5 on 3 got one back and Hayden carried it out and scored on a great shot.

Their second goal was a great shot from the point and the third guy just carried it in from the corner and beat radnors goalie

It was a great game (Ridley vs Haverford) that was obviously overshadowed by the zamboni burning afterwards.

We were in the locker room when a parent popped in to tell us the zamboni was on fire. Jim Hazelton, our headcoach, ran out to check things out. Next thing I know, I see people running full speed past the locker room door. Apparently the zamboni runs on propane, and there was a good chance it was going to blow.

All the players from Ridley and Haverford ran out next, without our gear, pants, bags, sticks, you name it. Police and firemen arrived and the people/players were herded either into Rink 1 or outside of the main lobby. I guess the firemen put it out with a hose, I'd imagine they handled it just like any other burning vehicle except it was on ice. Would have been funnier if they had been on skates.

We waited until probably close to 12:00 AM and the firemen (there were a crapload - though it took them a bit to get there considering they are literally a 5 minute walk from Iceworks) started bringing out equipment. Some players had been waiting in just a towel, and nothing else.

My stuff smells like smoke, but it's not too bad. I plan on airing it out during the day tomorrow and hopefully that should clear it up. I think everyone else should be good too.

Night of surprises really. Ridley beats HH 5-0, yet Ridley lost to Radnor 3-0, and HH beat Radnor 10-0. I guess you never know? Great game for Matt Kloton who had 3 goals and JP Tolomeo/Scott Wallace/Jay Mandell on defense pretty much shutting down Karp, Haeberele and HH's other talented forwards.

Sounds like an interesting night....I'll have to give Big Jim a call tomorrow and get the scoop.

Anyone know the score of the Methacton - Stoga game from Oaks?

Big Jim just got home from the rink at 4:30am.
Because we do plan ahead for things like this the rink will be open tomorrow. There are crews working round the clock to have the ice ready for hockey in the afternoon.
We had to cancel some figure skating in the morning but other then that everything is on schedule.
My hats off to all the players and their families for their cooperation in a very strange situation.

wow sounds like a crazy night..would have liked a longer description of the game though!

I am assuming that the Aston fire department is all volunteer so that is prob why it took them a little longer to get to IceWorks since most of the fire fighters were not at the station when the call came in

More about the game?

Well, things were pretty even I thought. Both sides had scoring chances but Ridley had some breakaways and a few odd man rushes we capitalized on. HH ended up outshooting us 28-19 but most of the shots came from the point or perimeter. HH had trouble creating traffic in front and burying second chances. Karp and TJ combined for 4-5 good chances but no breakaways.

It was a pretty good game by both teams, Ridley just buried some pucks and HH didn't.

Matt, were you there? Did you leave before the zamboni (we should have a YouTube video soon) incident?

A parent video taped the whole thing...expect it to be on YouTube. Supringsly after the game...even though I do know most of the HH team, the players who did not know each other were getting along. There was a great show of sportsmanship amoung both teams

Stoga beat Methacton 5-3. It was a great game, the stands were packed, there was no where to even stand by the 2nd period. Stoga was up 2-1 at the end of the 2nd but Methacton took a 3-2 lead in the 3rd. Stoga answered with 3 straight and went on for the win.
