I haven't seen Rustin play this season, but have seen PV many times. What's the concensus on this Tuesday match-up?

PV will have problems matching Rustins speed. I think Rustin wins 6-3.

I picked PV in the pool. Going by what I saw last Friday, I dont think PV wins this one though. They looked terrible. Marple is not a very talented team, hard-working though, and Im not trying to insult anyone, just calling it the way I saw it. PV had a few guys with their own agenda that continued to try to do it themselves. Ive honestly seen peewee minor teams that moved the puck better then them against Marple. Marple basically kept both defensemen back in the neutral zone. It was funny watching a much more talented PV team try to basically skate through a bad trap, with little success, instead of spreading the ice and getting the puck deep in order to beat it. I like Rustin in this one, especially after them coming back against Hershey, who I thought was the more talented team.

As I said before Rustin is probaly the deepest team in A. They also have legit talent up front and can score and play solid defense. They only thing is there goalie has a habit of giving up goals from the blue line. Im not sure who wins this one but im thinking Rustin will have to score at least 6 goals to come out on top.

As a follow-on to raha --- Much of what he says applies to PV as well...depth, scoring from all lines. I also agree that Rustin will have to score a lot of goals to win. But, I don't think they will. Sutherland is a big-game goaltender and knows how to win a State Championship. PV, 4 or 5-2.

Like snipe i was also surprised to read that you would say Rustin is the deepest team. They have alot of kids on varsity if that is what you meant by depth.
The majority of their goals are scored by Ignatuk or Gaffney, those are the only 2 players with more than 10 goals, the rest team is a decent supporting cast but they don't have many more outstanding players besides those 2 and Knodel. Their goalie has a 85% Save percentage as well.

Matching up the teams PV seems like the no-brainer
Forwards i give the edge to PV
Christie, Frankie, Nicholson, Fiorillo, Dachille VS. Igntuk and Gaffney

Defense- Again I give PV the edge
DeLuca, Zeigler, Fisher Vs. Knodel

Goalie-Again PV
Southerland VS. Leiberman

However Rustin managed to beat them 6-3 late in the season and PV was not a great team against Marple, so I can see this game going either way. If Perk valley plays the way they are capable of playing they should win 6-4, but I am not sure if they can get themselves out of this current slump.

As I said Rustin is just a deeper better coached team. I know theres a lot in this league placed on the scorers but its not always about that. Its about the team as a whole. PV did what a lot of teams do, they skated around and really didnt play as a whole. Rustin does have a couple stars but they also have about 15 kids who can play.

Sounds like PV played as bad as they did last Friday. Congrats to Rustin.

The East vs Henderson game had a great crowd, I would hope that this crowd will be duplicated on Saturday, with natural rivals Rustin and East set to play.

The hits were almost the same, the PV player could of stopped. There was not disrespect to the Rustin goalie, the players new that they needed to play the game and stay out of the penalty box that there would be time for payback if it was needed. With the same issue in the Henderson game, the Henderson players felt they needed to stick up for their goalie, one problem was that the 2 players that were involved think for some reason that since they are (were) the super stars of Henderson that they do not have to sit in the box and sit their time that they are above every other player. If anyone saw the East game seems the same player that ran Mattern was sitting on top of the S goalie last night. Nice to see both Rustin & East playing on Saturday. What we can say about these 2 teams is that they are playing as teams they are showing what this game is all about and that is playing as a team is what wins hockey games.

I don't know of the circumstances of the Henderson hit, but in the PV one, the puck was passed down the middle of the ice and Rustins goalie came out to the hash marks to play it as the PV player was charging in and they collided. The puck was still in play at the time of the collision.
