I hear Pine-Richland has an incredible freshman on their team that tried out for the US national team, and is going to be an OHL draft pick.

How good is this kid? Did he make the national team?

I'm guessing the player your referring to is Brandon Saad. He's the one on the west online forum that everyone keeps talking about.

Yea, thats him.

A guy I worked with at McKeens was telling me hes the real deal. He covers alot of midwest midget games. He didnt cover the NTDP camp though. Would be nice if states were in the east this year, Id like to see the kid play.

Brandon Saad is one of the top 93's in the country and destined for the National Developmental Program. He reminds me of RJ Umberger, but is actually bigger at this age than RJ was and more skilled. People were talking about him two years ago. If Pine Richland beats LaSalle, it will be a coming out party for him....might be worth the drive to see this game. I have seen both teams play several times and it will be as good of a State Final that you'll see in a long time.

I was just reading the Western PA board. Many of the posters are saying Brandon Saad will be the best player on the ice. Is he really better then 2 big, fast 90's Berkle and Schmidt on Lasalle, or their 91's Tyson and Denczi? I would imagine the kid is something else, but Im surprised a freshman 92 is going to be better then a senior 90 or a junior 90.

La Salle has already seen Saad (and a couple of his teammates who play for the Hornets out west) in the Showcase they played in as VFMM out in Ann Arbor.

I wouldnt be that suprised if hes the real deal. When Kolarik was on the ice for Lasalle he was tiny and was deff the best player on the ice even when they played teams like Malvern who had a few kids on it that went DI that year.

Looks like his own coach and teammates don't think he'll be back.
