1ST ANNUAL BUX MONT PRE-SEASON
HIGH SCHOOL CHALLENGE CUP
The 1st annual Bux Mont Pre-Season High School Challenge Cup will be played at Face Off Circle, Warminster, PA and Hatfield Ice, Colmar, PA Tuesday September 16,2008 and will conclude Friday September 26, 2008. The tournament is open to all USA Hockey registered Varsity AAA,AA,A and Junior Varsity AA,A,B teams. Each team will be guranteed 3 games with a Championship Game at each level. All levels will play 15 minute periods. This is a terrific opportunity to play competitive games prior to the start of league play. high school teams practice on weekdays in September too. Always have so what's the difference

As per the agreement between the DVHL and the High School leagues the clubs (Midgets) are supposed to practice on Tuesdays and the High Schools are not supposed to have games or practices on Tuesdays. Note the start date of this tournament. So September 16th essentially becomes a total waste for some clubs who have all their Midgets practice on Tuesday night.

Its all about the $$$..

If you don't see the problem with HS hockey having tournaments in Sept, you are part of the problem.

Agreed, this is a tough sell in September.

The tournament games are normal High School game times that occur during the entire season. The Tuesday night slots will be scheduled for the JV level. We already have 5 teams entered.

So in other words you couldn't sell the ice the high schools would normally take come October so you came up with this idea . Good business on your part. Why don't we just start the season on Sept 16 and call them exhibition games. Same difference. Some schools don't even pick the teams until after this tournament starts.

I am sure next year they will make teams play in the tournament, the same way they are making them play in a Xmas tournament this year
