Tomorrow night, 2/23, 7 PM at Codey in West Orange, Delbarton vs. St. Augustine's. Delbarton beat Bergen Catholic 3-1 in the semi's, St. Augustine's "upset" Christian Brothers 5-2.

Delbarton played La Salle to a tie but i would say La Salle was lucky to come away with the tie. Delbarton was missing thier leading scorer and La Salle couldn't handle then phsyically.

I think Lasalle lost to CBA 5-2, and Delbarton beat CBA 5-2.

Delbarton tied Lasalle in Delbarton's first game together. If they played now, Delbarton would win by 4 or 5 goals, they are absolutely loaded, and big. They basically have almost every district kid from Northern Jersey that still lives in the district.

Delbarton played without Velischek, D-1 to Providence, and Amobrosia, 1st line winger. Pyne was the difference maker.

The scariest thing about Delbarton is that they have 2 extremely talented students who dont even play on the team. Chris Volonnino plays for the Rockets AJHL team, and Doug Kase on the Devils National didnt play this year.

Boy, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story....while Delbarton did play without Velischek and Ambrosia, it's not as if these kids hadn't seen each other in months. A majority of that team play for the NJ Colonials who had already completed a large majority of their club schedule at that point. As for the game - La Salle controlled the play for the last five minutes of that game and should have had a game winner. Delbarton iced the puck three times in the last couple minutes to relieve the pressure, and got away with intentionally pushing the net off with under a minute to play and their goalie completely down and out and literally stuck in the net. So to make it sound like La Salle was lucky to come away with a 3-3 tie is a little misleading; it was Delbarton hanging on for a point at the end.

As for the Gordon Cup final - St. Augustine's led in that final 2-0 and 3-2 before Delbarton came back to win. So it's not like Delbarton is head and shoulders above over there. Besides - no Gordon Cup winner has won a State Private School title since 1994 or something according to that NJ message board...

Finally - yes, Delbarton has a 5-2 win over CBA but they also lost to CBA earlier in the year 3-1. They also have a surprising 1-1 tie with Bishop Eustace.
