It dates all the way back to the first game of the season for Holy Ghost but, they do hold down a 6-4 win against Cardinal O’Hara in the regular season. O’Hara held a one goal lead in the third period before Ghost broke away with two power play goals (Zemzik and Soroka), just nine seconds apart.

Brandon Provenzano faced 43 shots that night and played well. The Firebirds will be hard pressed to muster another 43 shot night, and this time they will be facing Jim Murray, presumably.

The offense of Holy Ghost has been led all year by Senior John Soroka and Junior Nick Seravalli. Seravalli has caught fire in the post season and has become the teams spark plug. The Firebirds also get steady contributions from Mike Andrusko, Pat Corcoran (Game winner against La Salle), Robbie Hoffman and Zemzik. Freshman Conner McStravick has returned to the line-up to add some speed and skill. Another Freshman, blue liner Paul Burns, has sparked his team with his physical play. Despite being 5’5” and 120 pounds, Burns laid the smack down on a few of Archbishop Ryan’s unsuspecting forwards in the quarter finals.

O’Hara, while losing to Ghost in the early part of the season, has dropped only one other AAA game (La Salle) since then. They played Holy Ghost in the Semi’s last season and came away with the win, eventually winning the Flyers Cup. They know what it takes to get it done and with gunners like Sean Coll, Kevin Murray and Kevin Burke on the scene, expect to see a lot of offense in this game.

Justin Stewart, a converted forward and Brian Newman will anchor the defense with Cris Henderson and Don DeSanctis as O’Hara rolls with four regular defenseman.

The Flyers Cup champions of the past have historically repeated after their first taste of glory, Penncrest, Radnor, Carroll, Haverford and Malvern have all won multiple Flyers Cups in the new millenium before relinquishing their titles, O’Hara will do the same, winning by at least a two goal margin.
