STAMFORD - Police Saturday arrested the captain of the Greenwich High School hockey team after he got ejected, entered the stands in violation of league rules and got into a dispute with a Trinity Catholic High School parent, police and witnesses said.
Anyone read the part where it says the player was supose to stay on the bench and be controlled by the coaches after being kicked out of the game. Ive never heard of anything like that before anywhere.
We had a Carroll player ejected from our (Malvern II) game yesterday on Rink 3 at Iceline and he skated down to the door by our bench he couldn't find and just leapt into our bench - chirping the entire way. One of our coaches stayed between him and our players and the Carroll parents howled be cause the coached touched (just brushed up).
I've actually seen a couple of CIAC games in Connecticut and have not seen the "sit on the bench" rule enforced. I have seen a couple of ejected players leave the ice and head for the locker room. Perhaps this is a new rule. More likely, it's just ignored all the way around.
I believe that in NFHS rules an ejected player must remain in the bench area, unless an adult is available to supervise the player off the ice. I have seen this in other sports that use NFHS rules.

NFHS, NCAA, and USA Hockey rules do not allow ejected players to remain on the bench.
i think you need to get your story straight. i got the word that the malvern coach went after the carroll player to a point one of the priests had to go protect the player from the coach. (from the priest himself) that tells you how class-less that coach is and should have been thrown out himself! no coach, no matter what level is permitted to go after any player at all!

When a player, manager or other team personnel is removed from the game, that person is to leave the playing area immediately. If the removed person is a student or school-age person, the removal will take place only if there are authorized school personnel available for supervision. The individual will not return to the playing area at any time.
If there is no one available for supervision, the individual must remain on the bench. At that point, the coach shall be notified that any further disruption by that individual shall result in termination of the contest.

First of all, my story is straight. You only "got the word" - I was there!
1. I was sitting in the stands directly across from the Malvern bench. 2. My son was the back-up goalie and the Carroll player jumped on the bench right in front of him. 3. Our coach followed the player to the door out of the rink to the locker room (10 feet from the bench) and went back to the bench while the Carroll player kept looking out the door window and screaming obcenities.
There was no protection necessary just overrought behavior on Carroll's part.
Speaking of classless, how about the Carroll player literally football tackling our player who was beating him on a break-away then high-5ing teammates from the penalty box.

I guess you doubt the word of a priest! I was also told that your parents were out of hand. I guess Malvern did nothing wrong in that game? I guess your coaches were allowed to tourment, harrass the opposing team? let alone the players? I guess maybe the coaches need to go back and talk to Father Casey (which is a conflict of interest) and see if He was the guilty one for starting it all. Boy 2 sides of the story here. I guess you are untouchable! I know one of the carroll players is on a quakers team with most of the malvern kids and they did not even care who he was and laid him out.

The priest went to the locker room through the lobby - we never saw him from the stands (though I did see him come back out after the game - smiling and joking about it, by the way).
I have known Ed Casey for over 20 years. I have known Joe (and Michael) Fratoni for 10 years - my son played for him on the Colonials. I don't know what you're referring to by saying "I guess you are untouchable". I know what I saw and I know what my son said that your player did - end of story. Your defense is ridiculous. The kid got tossed and then skated to our bench and jumped into the middle of it! Talk about provocation.
I don't know why you persist when I am an eyewitness and you're going on hearsay.

Ok im not taking sides on this one cause I dont know either team but your last statment about the kids knowing eachother and still one Malvern kid laid out a Carrol kid, thats how it should be. Most the kids in this league play with at least one player from each other team on the club teams and if they backed off every kid they knew they would never hit anyone.
