Ironically, I just got the go ahead to resume coverage. There were some internal hang-ups that got worked out yesterday and I'll be at a game on Friday night. Obviously, this is not the best scenario and is a big step down from the amount of coverage we have done in the past, but at this point I'll be happy to get something going on a consistent basis. I'll have a lot of ground to cover in a short amount of time, but I will do my best. It looks like we'll be covering one game a week for the rest of the regular season and a Hockey Notebook should be in the paper once a week starting next week.
If you have ever spoken to me before, you know I write for the Daily Times b/c I like covering sports (especially hockey even though I am a baseball and football guy) and would like to think I have developed a pretty strong understanding of high school hockey in the area. Whether you believe me or not, I don't do this for the money (and I would not get rich this way if I was), but there are other issues the paper was dealing with that held things up. If any of you are familiar with the HBO show "The Wire", the newsroom storyline for this season sheds a lot of light on the current state of newspapers (and the problems they are facing) in today's glut of media alternatives.
Anyway, I felt I at least owed a response to the postings when everything was worked out.

It's good to have you back on the beat Chuck. It really is. The articles you write make the Daily Times a more interesting read and the coverage benefits the local school clubs by keeping hockey in the public eye as a mainstream sport. Thanks for what you've done in the past, and for hanging tough with whatever drama was going on at the Daily Times.
Chuck if you're out there since it appears you are not having much luck getting your Super 7 for HS Hockey in the Delco Times maybe you could post it here on Breakaway Forum. We might get more players interested tuning in to the forum as well.

That is good news. (forgive the pun) The swimming and wrestling are nice, but this is a Hockey Town. It's great to have you back regularily.
There was a lengthy article about Ridley in the paper Saturday 1/26. It mostly reported on the progress of our season thus far (being a local team for the Del-Times) and the rematch between Ridley and Haverford High in the playoffs later this season.
The Hockey Notebook came out today, 1/27. It featured a picture of some Marple players, D'urbano, Johnson, Taxin, and Wienckowski, and then some details about their season. The new Super Seven are:
Maybe because it was Ridley vs. Spring-Ford?? Not exactly a barn burner Central League match-up!! But you guys got the most space because you were the early game.
No offense Boraske, but there were 6 other Delco teams involved in games against each other at Iceworks that night and they barely got a sniff in the Chester / Basketball Times. Oh, my fault, the Daily Times I mean.
Rim shot I know. And I like Chuck and it's no fault of his. He does what he can with what he has, but I see more attention given to hockey in the County Press papers, which is a sad indictment on a sad "local" paper to say the least.
