Shawnee was due for a loss. Williamstown stayed right with them for 2 periods and they are an average team at best. Its tough to play night in and night out with blowouts. You can hardly expect the kids to bring their best game every time. The loss was probably a good thing for that team.

For one thing, we are one league vs how many in PA? Has anyone taken each league in PA and checked to see how they each individually do in the Flyers Cup? We are 4 or 5 teams out of ?? 48 or something? Statistically we have a small chance of making it to the end.

Then, we end our season earlier than the PA leagues, have a double elimination playoff so that by the middle of February only a handful of teams are still playing, and, for some reason, all our high schools have their senior class trips in March!

The SJ teams do take the Flyers Cup seriously. We are very honored to be selected to play. But let's get real - the PA teams have a bit more incentive since the winners go on to States.

I do wish JPOP would change the title of this thread though....

SJ Fan,

I took the time to grab some stats from the Flyers Cup since 2004 to see how all of the leagues stack up. Leagues are ranked by winning percentage in Flyers Cup action across 'A,' 'AA,' and 'AAA.' With teams ranked by winning percentage, no complaint can be made about the other leagues having more teams and a better chance of winning it. I've included championships just for curiosity's sake. Feel free to check my math if you have a spare hour or two to do so.

ICSHL: 66-44 (60.0%) 7 championships
EHSHL: 21-16 (56.7%) 4 championships
SHSHL: 44-44 (50.0%)
CPIHL: 21-23 (47.7%)
LBCSHL: 18-21 (46.2%) 1 championship
SJSHIHL: 7-22 (24.1%)
LVSHL: 0-8 (0%)

SJSHIHL: 11-26 (29.7%)

We'll have to wait & see what McDonald decides to do - stay home or go to prep school or juniors in New England. Without McDonald they still have some strong players and the little Crespo played well between the pipes, but they will not be as dominant.

Due to player requests and in consideration of our junior and senior aged high school hockey players and their educational needs, the Club is proud to announce the Midget Major AA short season. The short season will allow Midget Major AA players the opportunity to play both travel and high school hockey, at a reduced fee, without the myriad of conflicts (school requirements, game and work schedules) that have arisen over the last few years between travel and high school hockey. Many NJYHL clubs in the north have implemented the short season over the last several years in order for their players to focus on the drive for a state championship. Additional practice and game ice can be purchased after completion of the short season to prepare for NJYHL playoffs and Atlantic District championships.

this is this year's Atlantic District representative to Tier II nationals...
