My pick for game of the night on Tuesday is the Ghost/Ryan game, obvious reasons aside. Ghost is 4-1 against Ryan this season and won the LBCSHL final playoff series 2-1. Ghost clearly comes in as the favorite, but losses and ties to Salesianum, Roman and Ryan in the last few months create enough questions for me to believe that this could be a toss up. Given the heated nature of the finals, this game should be fun regardless of the final score.

Hey Matt, you sure your just getting up or maybe, just maybe your just getting in from last night. Pump your chest out and say your just getting in, that should start a good debate.

every team loses kids, but in hgp's defense, they had some questionable losses, but most were due to missing players, as in like 5 or 6 kids, not 1 or 2.

they still wont have their full team against ryan, but ryan will be missing kids too. so it evens out.

if ghost does beat ryan tonight, thursdays game will be the first game theyve had their full team since like late december.

with all due respect to the other players on Ghost but unless your missing Seravalli, Soroka or Begley it doesn't really matter. They had all these guys in the losses to Roman and Ryan. They were missing Soroka when they played Salesianum. The difference in this game as opposed to the Lower Bucks playoffs against Ryan is that Ryan will still be missing Beattie and 2 others. As much as I like the job the Ryan group has done this year I can't really see them beating Ghost in this one. I see it being something like HGP 5-2. It maybe a bit closer if Begely is nercous early on but I figure he will be big in the end.

I’ll do my little predictions thing for tonight. I went 9-2 last night just most of my scores perditions were WAY off. Seeing as I am stuck on campus now (9:45) and I don’t have class until 11:30, I’ll be making a bunch of posts.

AAA

Holy Ghost Prep Vs. Ryan

Like I have read above both teams seem to have suspensions but I do not think Ghost lost anybody on their first forward line (Sorka and Company) so as long as that line is in tact I don’t see Ryan being able to stop Ghost from putting the puck in the net. Ghost is a stronger team top to bottom and that should show tonight.

AA
Haverford High Vs. C.B. West
As usual Haverford High gets off to a slow start for their first flyers cup game. I think going down 2-0 last nights was the best thing that happened to them, after that they score 3 quick ones. Last night Haverford beat a very solid C.R. North team and shouldn’t except anything less out of C.B. West, since both teams played last night lack of rest will be a problem for both teams and shouldn’t factor in the outcome. HH can’t come out flat like last night, I see Campli and the rest of Haverford’s first two lines being able to put the puck in the net early and their defense led by Lowry being able to slow down C.B. Leclair and his line mates. The difference maker in this game should be Hazelton; if he gets a good view of the shots he can stop them. I take Haverford by 3

Conestoga Vs. Methacton
Methacton may prove to be a bracket buster after sticking it to Pennridge last night. Conestoga controlled the Neshamiany game but only managed a 1 goal win. I think if Conestoga can play the same type of game they played on Saturdays against Neshaminy they should be able to control most of the game. I’ll take Conestoga by 2 in front of their home crowed at Ice line.

Pennsbury (3) Vs. Central Dauphin (6)
Pennsburry should be the better team in this game but they only managed to beat Cumberland Valley by 2. I don’t know much about the 2 teams so I can’t go into much detail but I’ll take the higher seed and say Pennsbury by 2.

C.R. South (7) Vs. Washington Township (2)
It seems like every year by this round there is only 1 south jersey team left. Last night Cherokee seemed to do what the SJ teams do every year and lose their composure when their teams go down by a goal or two. I think if Township gets ahead early they should be able to hold south off for the W. I’ll take Township by a close 3.

Holy Ghost Prep Vs. Ryan

If your a going to take stupid penalties you may as well pack your bags and go home. Focus and discipline should decide this game with HGP having the advantage.

Haverford vs CB West.

Both teams have top lines with a million points this season. Defensive skills, backchecking and defensive experience along with depth on both teams will be put to the test tonight.
Look for the top lines to wash each other out matching up goal for goal (Like watching the globetrotters) or completely shutting each other down. Fiddling around holding onto the puck looking for the pretty goals will not be the way to win this game. Move quick and get your shots. If either defense sits back they will get eatin alive.
The team with more depth will most likely decide this one.

Stoga vs Methacton

Cant say I have seen Methacton play but simular to Hershey they are still on the map and a contender. I was impressed with Stoga this year and I think when it comes time they will get it done. Although they are missing one of their talented players Stoga still has a lot of other players who chip in to get the win.

Pennsbury vs Central Dauphin

Pennsbury played a lot of games this year both club and school (if my memory is correct). This is where the benefits can pay off. CD will most likely have a game plan of their own and will have to slow the pace of the game down and control Pennsbury who will get faster as the game moves on.

CR South vs Wash. Twp.

All the hoopla about WT not finishing in the big game is nothing more then adding fuel to their fire. Count on WT not letting history repeat itself and come out strong. I watched this team put a physcial whoopin on St. Marys earlier in the season. Although they came up a goal short in double overtime those boys could play. Not taking anything away from CR but they, just like Central Dauphin will have to slow down WT if they want the win.

South vs WT
Although it was 2 FC's ago. The 15th seeded South squad knocked off #2 WT in dominating fashion. Will revenge be in store tonight or will that just give South hope that because they have done it before they can do it again? Another factor is that South has been in quite a few high scoring afairs down the stretch and they probably won't get flustered if they find themselves behind early. Regardless of who wins this one should be fun to watch. I'll go out on a bit of a limb and predict that history will repeat South in a close but high scoring game. 6-5

HH vs CB West
It looks like the last 2 FC's for HH. Early scare in the first round and then they run off 3 straight convincing wins. Will that be the case again? I think so. I previously felt that Pennridge was going to be the toughest game for HH but now that they are gone I see the best AA team for the past three years winning in a realatively easy one tonight. Say 6-2.

Pennsbury vs CD
If McKay and Gannon can get it going and they stay out of the penalty box nothing will stop Pennsbury, at least on this side of the bracket. Pennsbury wins 4-2

Stoga and Methacton
Haven't seen either team play this year and Methacton already blew up my pool. (Oh them and Roman. oops) so I'll just throw out a wild guess and take the higher seed and take Stoga in tight one. Say 4-3.

So far the outcomes have been close to the predictions. Congrads to Hershey for a nice run.

It looks like the seeding in the AAA & AA where right on the money with the top 4's still battling and almost 50% in the A selections. The belt is going to tighten in the final 4's

yea so i guess everyone was wrong about HH and CB West. It was not 3 goals difference, not 2 goals. But only 1 goal. Personally the haverford goalie, hazelton or whatever was not all he is cracked up to be, he only stopped 15 of 18 shots which turns out to be a .83 save %. For a FC game thats not great in my book. Although HH's first line bailed them out and scored 4 goals. Thoughts on the game.....

So we are now supposed to rip a goalie who had an average night and his team still won the game? 2 questions.
1. Would you rather have an average game and win or a phenomanal game and lose?
2. What is this kid's career record in the Flyer's Cup? I believe it is something like 6-0.
I am sure every coach and goalie that looks at this post would take that 83% save percentage he put up last night if he had a 6-0 record to go with it.
