raha127 -- Don't be so confrontational, for crying out loud! Why do dis-like this kid so much? He is, as anyone who knows him will tell you, a good kid! I think he played 12 games for the VFMM and by the end of the season he will have played, what, 28-29 high school games? Total 40? He was offered contracts by 2 Boston-area Junior teams...one an "A", one a "B". He had options. But, all-in-all, I understand that when high school, transportation, living conditions, and everything else were taken into account, he chose Pa.
raha127 -- You forgot to mention that while, yes, he was the back-up, he had better numbers across the board than the "starter"...and not because he played the weaker teams on the schedule. You also didn't mention that the kid he played behind was 20 years old and the coach's son!!
Im not attacking the kids character. Im sure hes a good kid but all these reasons for him coming here are rediculous. Who leaves Conn for philly for more exposure for hockey??? Thats like leaving Europe to come to America for soccer. Once again 40 DI and DIII schools compared to 2. He only played 595 mins which is actually less than 10 games, and his numbers where practically identical to the starter, within three thousanths of a percentage point. They where 19th and 22 overall in a 16 team league, so I dont see either of these kids going anywhere.
Also at a max he will play 26 high school games this year. Which is 36 total so that still leaves him about 10 games short of playing a junior or full junior b season.
HHfan, what does being the coach's son have to do with anything? Isn't the idea to play the better, more experienced goalie? If you look at the GA for the season as a team, they were very competitive with the other teams, so the goalies must've been doing their job.
Maybe raha127 is upset, maybe their team lost to PV and they are still not over it. Come one raha the hockey world does not revolve around your team, could it be the one that won states last season
raha127 -- He will be 17 when he graduates in late June, with 3 more years of Junior eligibility left to him. I forgot the 5 games in the Iceline Christmas Tournament, so he'll have played over 40 games. As I said before, he's gotten double , nearly triple, the ice time that he would have gotten in Ct., been able to play both Junior and high school, which is impossible in Ct., and Ct. has very few Junior opportunities compared to other states. The competition here in PA. has been at a higher level. I would personally find it difficult to say that a 17 year old who has already led one HS team to it's State Championship, is having a great senior year with PV, as well as getting his first year of Junior under his belt is not "going anywhere". Particularly, raha, when you don't know much about him, about what his plans might be, about who he knows, and about what other, more professional, coaches and associates might have in mind for him. But, hey...that's just me. If you're comfortable ruling on his future activities without much of the relevent information, by all means, go for it! In fact, if you can do that with any regularity, I can tell you who to speak with at the NHL League offices about a job. They've been looking for a guy like you for decades.

And as for losses I could care less a new season has started. It just everyone on here keeps talking about him. If you want to start a topic about a new goalie ill say my opionions on them too.
The relivant info I need I get from watching people play. Not the politicts of who knows who. And as for telling the future im pretty sure I can with goalies, ive been teaching them for about 10 years now and I personally have worked with some of the best goalies and goalie coaches in the business, SO YES PLEASE IF YOU CAN GET THEOSE NUMBERS SEND THEM TO ME.

My point about him staying up there doesn't mean him staying in CT with less games. If the kid was as good as everyone complains about it, he could have went to so many closer programs in a area saturated with scouts on a daily basis for exposure with 50+ game schedules. Example: VFMM + PA High school hockey versus Jr A or Jr B with Boston Jr Briuns or another team in that area thats what I'm comparing with. He did after all move away, so why not move closer and get better exposure?
BTW, just because you get an offer from a Jr teams doesn't mean your going to play, not even as a backup. Especially on the better teams, kids every week get scratched and never play.
That is deff true at any high level. I know a lot of goalies that got recruited to play NCAA DI, DIII and ACHA DI and never got a chance to be a starter and some didnt even ever get a chance to play.
I realize I'm a little late to the party here, but are you guys referring to the same Rob Sutherland who used to play for Immaculate High School in Danbury, CT?
