I think that boycotting the state finals would do more harm to the kids than good. Something needs to be figured out for the benifit of all the participants. I would rather play and not get a trophy, than not play. Still someone has to do something about the west's hording of the trophies.

Sorry if I'm a bit late in response I was in Ithaca

Somebody from the FLyers Cup needs to have the balls to stand up to these people and tell them that the Pennsylvania High School Hockey State Championships owns the trophies and not the PIHL! Why is that so hard.?

Secondly, the names of EVERY state champion since 1975 is on those trophies and someone will have to get that information, which the I compiled and the PIHL would not return to me. The best thing that can happen is that the Flyers Cup refuses to take part in any post State Championship ceremonies until the winning teams are allowed to hold the trophy for ONE year and return it to the respective Flyers Cup or Penguins Cup committee.

Jeff, I did and nobody backed me up! If you remember two years ago, the "A" trophy was not going home with PIHL if the East leaders didn't allow it. The little man with the gloves guarded it like the secret service.

This is why I like pez35's original idea...that we in the East simply buy new trophies and make redundant those which the West keeps bogarting. We have all the engraving information we need, the cost when spread among the teams in the East is next to nothing, and we can handle them as they should be handled. Give 'em to the championship winners for the year. And for those school winners who are club teams, I guarantee that any high school whose club team wins the State Championship will find a place in the trophy case for the State Championship trophy.

Let's say we do as you say and give the winning teams the trophies for a year. Then let's say all three levels or even one level is won by the west. They take the NEW trophies for the year. Come the following year none of the teams that won from the west make it to the state championship games. How do we get those trophies back from the teams out west since they, the trophies, are not even reconized by the powers to be out there? I still think putting them on display at the Wachovia Center is the way to go.

I'm not sure how to enforce the return of the trophy by a school not returning to the tournament, but I'm sure a way can be found. Have them sign a document committing to it's return 30 days before hand, make 'em leave a $1000 deposit before they take the trophy. There are probably a dozen fairly effective ways.
But, the Wachovia Center?? Why? So no one will ever see it except those who may go to games there? The Wachovia Center and its occupants contribute little or nothing visible to area high school hockey except some involvement perhaps in the Flyers Cup. Their "nominal oversight" of Eastern PA. hockey is, indeed, nominal. Might as well stick it at the Statehouse in Harrisburg, the Valley Forge Historical Park, or the Phoenixville Diner...any of which would be equally relevant. I am, obviously, exaggerating, but everyone else in the world gives the trophies to the winners for the year. I just don't understand why Pa. has to be any different on this.

I think you should contact the media. Try embarrassing them. Seriously. Their behavior is child-like so why not treat them like children?
