Well thanks for clearing that up about your graduation year, because I really thought you were a child or a young adult the way you have been behaving on here. Anyhow now you are worthy of an edit to a previous post.

I believe you're looking at last year's result. They were playing st. Edwards of Cleveland in the final, not Toledo St. Francis.

LaSalle beat St edwards 4-1 to win the meadville tournament. Obrien & schnoop had big goals. Team played great thru whole tournament, scoring 31 goals and giving up 1 in 5 games.

I really don't get all this bragging about LaSalle. They are the best team in the state, shame on them if they were not. They are a Tier I, Midget Major USA hockey team........something that would not be allowed by the PIAA by the way.

Snipe,

The VFMM U18 team coached by Wally is made up of a little more than half the LaSalle team, there are several non LaSalle players on the VFMM team. Same as there are several LaSalle AAA players who play club elsewhere (Icedogs, Comcast, Mercer etc).

Honestly, who cares? The good news is LaSalle's success reflects that there are some quality hockey players in the area. Maybe every player in the area can benefit from LaSalle's success via some scout or scouts stopping in the area. Don't you find it mind boggling that there are almost as many players from Texas playing Division 1 hockey as there are Delaware Valley players? Are the scouts headed to Texas before this area? People should pat Wally on the back and say, "Thanks for getting great exposure the some of the talent in the area." Just my humble opinion.

Scouts aren't going to Texas to look at players. Texas Tier I teams go to top level Tier I tounaments that scouts attend, just like Tier I team from here.

Wally has figured a way around the club/HS conflict issues for the most part. Hopefully it's a model that will be followed by others. Wouldn't it be nice to see all the high schools align with a club organization?

Thanks for clearing that up. I think the solution is a split season.

I'm not sure you can pat any high school coach on the back for kids being seen by scouts.

How many of the Texas players or high school players from this area go right to DIV1 right from high school?

Most of the kids have to go through prep schools or juniors after they leave high school in this area. I would say most of these kids move on from being seen with their clubs teams than their high schools teams.

The high end Texas club teams spend time flying to top tournaments and games in MN, MI, Canada.

How many Jr's or Sr's will leave Lasalle this year and go right to DIV1?

The JR teams and Jr Flyers U18 team do the best job of getting players seen by scouts from this area.

I don't think the split season is as good a model for this area; I like what LaSalle is doing better. The level of play is not high enough in High School for the most part to make it work. Look a kids who decide to play only High School hockey their senior year, for the most part their level of play declines.

Hey folks....give my man Matt a break !

The rankings I had were for Week 9 and before LaSalle won the Mt St Charles and then this past weekend the Meadville Bulldog Invitational. As far as the Western bias goes [because I do the Statewide rankings], I will just say that is a bunch of non-sense because I talk to alot of people in Eastern Pa including Matt. I will have you note:

Pine Richland won the Class AA State Title the past two years

LaSalle was ranked # 1 IN THE STATE all of 2006-07 and then lost to Holy Ghost Prep in the Flyers Cup. So last time I checked the last State Championship they won was in 1996 and that was after defeating Central Catholic 14-0 in late November and then only beating the 3-2 in the State Final on a late 3rd period goal.

This team from watching them as I did three games this past weekend in Meadville is on a mission and looks to be headed toward the State Final.

Don't discount Pine Richland and if both get out of the Flyers Cup and Penguins Cup, sets up a very interesting State Final in AAA.

Western Pa has won 13 out of the last 16 Pennsylvania Class AAA titles and alot of those years I had Malvern Prep ranked # 1 for much of the season in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Here are the Week 12 Rankings

Exactly why lists and rankings mean nothing.
