Plym -20 its one thing to be an avid supporter for your're old school, it's another to act like an expert on the subject of high school hockey. You complain about La Salle being #2 in the PA rankings. Where were you last year when La Salle was a heavy favorite to win the flyers cup and lost in the semi's. Or the year before that when they were losing by a goal to a much weaker GA team and their team captain tackled a GA kid into the goal and started punching him, didn't get called and than after the next face-off, punched a dif kid and was thrown out of the game.

But how can you complain about a top 25 list when chances are you have ONLY seen games played by La Salle. Or you complain about a ranking and you say you'd never heard of Pine Richland.

Please continue to support La Salle, just don't complain when others are not so quick to bow down to them.

And before i get yelled at i do think La Salle is the best team in Eastern Pa.

No. I wonder if Western PA and Ohio will look at the Eastern PA differently or will we still get no respect.

What's with the inferiority complex?

Jigga, I'm guessing plym_20 didn't play for Wally, otherwise he'd understand that Wally wouldn't tolerate this out of his players.

Matt-you have taken more undeserved heat on this board over the last week then anyone in quite sometime. Hang in there and continue your great work!

To Plym-20...here is the only list that matters:

2008 AAA Flyers Cup Champion TBD
2008 AAA Pa. State Champion TBD

If this ends up being LaSalle then that's great...but it will be determined on the ice as it should be. Not by some Pa Hockey poll in the middle of January!

You're right, I didn't play for Wally - I played under Peter Nolan, and I defy any of you to find a tougher coach in Eastern PA in the last 20 years. For those of you who think this year has to end in a state title for it to mean anything, like g squared has written, I think that's ludicrous. As was proven last year, a fluky bounce here or there can derail that at any moment. I was at Hatfield last year, standing right behind the La Salle net, and watched HGP get outplayed for three periods and get the OT goal out of a scramble in front to knock La Salle out - whenever you're playing a single elimination you run that risk. But for the rest of you to have the "ah, so they won at Mt St Charles, nice win, but doesn't mean anything if they don't win states"; "ah, so they beat three teams at Meadville and haven't given up a goal - doesn't mean anything if they don't win states" attitude is minimizing their accomplishments. I still have yet to hear of another example of a team in this area to EVER do something similar, which is why I find it hard to believe that there's another team in PA who is on par with the current club.

For the record - I graduated in 91, not 89 - we lost in the semis at Viking Ice Arena against North Penn in double OT. I'm not sure what "growing up" I have to do, as per the moderator, unless he's insinuating that with maturity comes some sort of conformance where the ability to disagree is non-existant.

No sir....it's the beating of a dead horse. You made your point. You seem like you need to keep driving it into me.

I find it interesting that that is the only part of my post that you responded to.

Conform? I'll look back and see where I asked you to conform, or to agree with me, or to not post your oppinion......you tried to get your point across (Again) this time with sarcasm, and your point just happened to be false.

Lasalle did not outplay Holy Ghost for 3 periods last season in the semi-finals, if anything it was vice-versa. You can go back and look at the posts from last March, and Im sure you wont see any posts that agree with your statement.

Semi Final Lasalle won 9-0. 8 different players scored, Wally called the boys off in third period. Play St edwards in final.

Shots according to the scoresheet;
1st, hgp - 11, lasalle - 8
2nd, hgp - 13, lasalle - 2
3rd, hgp - 7, lasalle - 7
OT, hgp - 4, lasalle - 4

I know Holy Ghost didnt have the dominant season like lasalle is having this year, but give credit where credit is due. HGP was the better team that night.

There's no beating of a dead horse. I just don't agree with the assessment of most of this board that all of their accomplishments during the season mean squat if they don't win a state title. If that were the case they should just scrap the entire regular season, draw names out of a hat, and slot them into a year long 64 team tournament. Every post regarding what they've done has been countered with "Yeah, but....". And I'm still waiting for someone to give an example of any team in this area who has accomplished something similar.

Delbarton in Minnesota, they are making a statement.

Lasalle is a great team, and its a great program. They SHOULD win states this year. They have a ton of talent, a very good coach, and they have alot of chemistry. At this point, they are hands down the best team in PA.

However, they are not this dynasty you think they are. They have accomplished alot this year, but in 5 years if they dont win the Flyers Cup, no one will remember them, and no one will care that they won the Mt St Charles tournament or any other tournament not called the Flyers Cup. Malvern Prep won 5 Flyers Cups in a row, no one remembers the runner-up, and what kind of season they had.

Remember for the last 10 years Lasalle has had one of the biggest or the biggest programs in the area. They have fielded 4 varsity teams in the past. Yet in this time period they have not won a Flyers Cup, and no one cares how good any of their teams were in the past, because they didnt win a championship.

HGP fan just said what i was going to say. Winning tournaments is great but the reason they don't count towards a PA or breakaway ranking is because we have no way to gauge the talent because they are playing teams that we haven't seen all year and have NO common opponents. Sure being a defending state champion, but we don't know what players still go to those schools, the NY and CT schools lose far more players to Prep and Jr's than we do. Maybe those teams are as strong has they have been in the past but we have no way of knowing. Plym, i would say its a massive failure if they don't win at least a flyers cup and states. Because they way you have been talking up La Salle this year its like they should be compeating for the NCAA title.

Just got off the Phone with Mauro.

FYI-North Alleghany was without thier starting goalie and five other "regulars" for the La Salle game.

Not taking anything away from La Salle's win, Mauro estimated that with a full NA team, La Salle still would have won 4-1, 5-1.
