Yeah first to Steve, that kick save was unreal, i was standing with your dad and mr Mendell and everyone in the stands went nuts.
He got run into and lost his stick, the puck was cleared to the other side of the "open" net and Steve got up and made a kicking save.
The only way East can beat North again is if they stay out of the box. They took at least 2 penalties after Ridley was already called for one losing their powerplay opportunity. (Like hitting a ridley kid from behind after the whistle was blown, slamming a kid into the boards after the whistle) North is a much stronger team offensively than Ridley so if you give them the opportunity to play 5-4 or 4-4 they should be able to put it in the net.
I was pretty impressed with the Ridley D last night, Hughes is a great player and they did a good job staying with him. The first Ridley goal was pretty funny Hugues was on a 2 on 1 and one of the Ridley kids was banging his stick calling for a pass and Hughes made the pass thinking it was his own teammate, which led to a odd man rush for Ridley.
Also last night O'brien a defense for East impressed me, he scored the first goal on a great shot from the point. Overall it was a fairly even game, giving the edge to East not just because they won but because they were able to generate more high percentage shots than Ridley was but Ridley proved they did belong in the flyers cup.
One a side note, face-off circle is a tough place to watch a game in, the stands are too close to get a good view of the ice, and behind one net is all rink equpit and behind the other was like a players only stand. So for the overtime i had to stretch to see over all the William Tennett kids who were there for the next game.

I hate to sound like an old man, here - but back in the day F O C was the best rink you could play at in this area. Grundy was a hole, Wintersport was - well, about the same as it is now (a hole), the Skatium had horrible ice, O Y R and A N C were outdoor and only seasonal - there was nothing else respectable in the area. So while it may be outdated now, back in the day it was like a palace!
first i would like to tell stevie that if it wasnt for his exellent play in the net we (ridley) would have never been in half the games we played this year,
second i would like to add that one of are better offensive players broke his growth plate 1 day prior to the game, one did not meet flyers cup grade standers and another 12th grader didnt show leaving us with a short bench.
we played the same 7 guys from the 3rd period to the end of o.t. i dont think East was ready for us to awnser back to each goal and they were stunned when we had all the pressure late in the 3rd. i really thought we were gonna win we had it right where we wanted. they did not no what hit them when boraske made some of those saves (like the kick save)
We tried to get to the puck on that o.t goal but hughes was there a split sec earlier. sad way to see such a great goalies HS hockey career end. We all wanted the W and gave it 110% we just came up 1 goal short. i will always remember that great game even tho we lost.

[sigh] I remember F O C also. Thanks for making me feel really old.
Face-off is a piece. Fortunately two people didn't flush the toilet at the same time or else the lights would have gone out.
Hmmm, that statement sounds very familiar. It sounds like something I said, many times, on the bench a few years ago. You wouldn’t happen to be a Council Rock North Alumni would you?
I agree that the ice is very good at Face-Off Circle and they have great locker-rooms. They also have some very friendly workers, but that does not make up for how the lights go off without any reasonable explanation. The game is going on, then poof, off go the lights. The worst part is when the referees try to make the teams play while the lights take 20 minutes to fully illuminate. Let’s not worry about the player’s safety; we have to get the game over in 20 minutes.
Hey Matt, it's not cheap bringing in those goalies in from Quebec and the Czech Republic. In addition, some of those other teams weren’t paying their bills either. A few of those cats were spending the team’s money on strippers. Not that I know anything about that!
FOC is meh. Not the greatest rink, but not the dirtiest one either. The only thing that makes it a cut below the rest is the baby glass surrounding the offensive zones. Defensemen try to flick the puck up the glass in any other rink and it would skip along the top there and go out of the zone. In FOC, you're more likely to kill a fan than clear the puck; though I suppose you're accomplishing both in the process.
Jigga, that kick save was pure desperation. There was literally an East player chilling on top of me somewhere outside of the crease, and I knew he wasn't getting a penalty because it looked like my defensemen "pushed him into me" so I just abandoned my stick, charged across the crease, and literally kicked forward. I don't think Hughes realized the net was empty at first because he delayed a second or two which allowed me to get over there.
Also, thanks JP. It's been a long time since Elementary Green in second grade, hasn't it?

Being a suburban league guy I never got the chance to see you play before the CB East game. Being an old goalie myself, I admired your skill and poise during the game. But I am even more impressed with your postings here on this board. Aside from being a class act, you're a well spoken individual and, regardless of your future hockey plans, I have no doubt you will be a success in whatever you do going forward.
Good luck to you!

The ice is usually good at Face off, but personally from playing thursday, especailly near the zam doors, the puck would not stay flat, it was bouning on everybody and caused some lucky breaks for both us and CB because with the bouncing puck, both teams lost scoring chances....
