# 20 SEED NORTHAMPTON BEATS # 13 CENTRAL DAUPHIN 4-3 IN A GOOD GAME NORTHAMPTON GOALIE HAD 50 SAVES ON 53 SHOOTS, UNEVEN PENALTIES AT TWIN PONDS GO FIGURE SOMETHING LIKE 12 FOR AWAY TEAM AND 5 FOR HOME TEAM
If I'm not mistaken, according to what Matt Sacks told us on the Preview Show, this is Lehigh Valley's first Flyers Cup win... anyone know this for certain?
I'd just like to throw in some details on the East/Ridley game. Matt Hughes had two goals, the third and fourth (OT winner) for East. The game winning goal was pretty much a fluke, though a nice play by him regardless.
He slipped through (virtually untouched) about two of my defenders and fired a shot off the side of the net. I half butterflied in an effort to make the save, and began to jump to my feet. Hughes was quicker though, darting behind the net where his rebound lie (Ridley defense had to be...somewhere) and then zipped the puck towards the slot. My good luck streak continued when the puck bounced off the back of my right leg and into the net for the OT winner.
Eleven seasons and a long school hockey career came to an abrupt end when Hughes scored from behind the goal line in Flyers Cup. I'll always remember that as the last goal I gave up in high school hockey. *sigh*

Judging from the posts you have made on this site I can tell you that you are a class act. It is not every day that a player comes on here and makes their points without slinging mud at others. Hell most of the supposed grown ups can not avoid it. Keep your head up you have a lot to be proud of. Good luck to you in the future.
I've had the privelege of watching you play and the task of having my team play against you. You are not only one heck of a goalie but a class act both on and off the ice. keep your head up and good luck in all of your future endeavors!
After watching last nights game - all CR North needs to do is shut down the Hughes line, but then again that will be hard to do since it plays every other shift for about 1 to 2 minutes while the other 2 lines are lucky if both their shifts total one minute, I guess the rest of the "team" is there just to give the Hughes line a rest.
Thanks to Koolaid, Matt, and Harks for your kind words. I've really enjoyed being both on the ice and apart of this hockey/internet community this past season - my only regret is not joining sooner!
nesw: The Hughes line did play a lot against us, though we played our top line against him quite a bit too. I'd say he got off at least 6-8 shots in the game resulting in two goals (not sure about the rest of his line) - not exactly shutting him down to say the least. The other lines had some talent I thought but I agree, if North (or any team for that matter) shuts down that top line, East is going to run into some trouble.
Sort of reminds me of a number two seed I know very well...
