Updating the SJHSHL playoffs:

Washington Township and Shawnee are the only two left in the winners bracket. Cherokee and Williamstown suffered their first playoff losses last night and drop to the losers bracket to join Moorestown and Clearview.

Just a reminder - I predicted Township/Shawnee for the championship at the start of the season. Cherokee still has an outside chance to prove me wrong!

How do these playoffs work?

It's called double elimination...after your second loss...you are eliminated.

Cherokee plays Clearview wed. Winner plays Williamstown on Friday. Winner of Cherokee/Clearview vs Williamstown, plays Shawnee next Monday. Winner of that game plays Washington Twp. Wed. For the championship

It's nice when the Breakaway! Scholastic cover reflects actualthe actual state of affairs. That cover was decided on a couple of weeks before last night's game.

Yea i kind of noticed. Cause i was talking to Colin Davis about it after the game cause he is the washington twp. player on it. Because they played last night. But it only decided who would go to the championship and other would go to losers bracket. Shawnee still has a chance to not even make it. Which would have made the cover false.

Not exactly false....it would be a prediction that went wrong. Before the playoffs started they were the #1 and #2 seed.

because even though shawnee was outshot tonite 50-25 they won over cherokee 5-4

The most important stats of the Shawnee/Cherokee game were penalties, 14 for Cherokee and 2 for Shawnee, and all 5 of Shawnee goals were power plays...and the refs called a fair game. Bottom line, it was a great game, hard fought by both teams, and Shawnee deserved to win. Twp/Shawnee, like all of their games have been, should be fun to watch.

I'm not a Shawnee fan (but I will root for them over Township) and I'm sorry you lost, Justin, but I could see from the start that Shawnee had very talented underclassmen who would be underestimated by the other teams, and Shawnee's biggest luck was in landing Gray as their goalie. Once Gray graduates, I wonder who will "move" into their district next year?
