La Salle 9, Archbishop Ryan 2. Game was 1-1 at the end of the first. Shots at the end of the first were 16-2, and one of Ryan's 2 shots was a floater on a clearing pass from their side of the red line. Ryan came out trying to goon it up a bit, going out of their way to take the body in the 1st. In the second they tried to skate with La Salle, and within 5 minutes of the 2nd it was 4-1. The Ryan goalie, McCarthy I think, was keeping them in the game but their coach called time out halfway through the second and went to the back up (Carroll). La Salle played keep away the last 6 minutes of the game, dumping the puck at every chance and not forechecking, not shooting, etc. Berkle had two empty nets in the last two or three minutes where he refused to put the puck in. Ryan tried to start a scrum a couple times midway through the third but La Salle was smart enough to turn the other cheek. Ryan had one guy tossed on a match penalty for dissension and should have had a second tossed as well. Shots on goal were somewhere around 53-7 or so. La Salle played without Krulikowski and called up Antoni from the AA team - thought Antoni looked pretty good. Berkle had the hat I think.
I think the original call was a hook or a high stick - he argued it all the way to the box, and the ref turned and warned him "no more". He kept arguing and the ref tossed him. Then the coach argued the match penalty and refused to put someone in the box -- it was about a five minute delay before the game got going again.

Correction: None of berkle's goals came on empty nets with 2-3 minutes left. Berkle scored 4 goals and his last goal came with 8 minutes left in the 3rd. Wally then had the boys dump the puck the rest of the game. Shots were 55-15.

No, not what I meant - I was saying Berkle could have had two more in the last 2-3 minutes - one where he had half the net to shoot at and instead stickhandled into the corner, and the other within the last 20 seconds or so when he was 2 feet out in front of the net and wouldn't slide it into the open cage.
A Match or a Game Misconduct. A GM and he misses the next game for that team. A Match and he sits from all hockey until a district hearing or 30 days, whichever comes first. If it is the Match, he must have done something more that just yelling.
I'm almost positive I heard the ref tell the coach it was a match penalty, but mind you I was quite far away from where he was making the call. As a matter of fact he made a special note of pointing to the player as he left the ice and telling the coach. I wish I could tell you which player it was but it was hard to tell. It'll be easier to figure out once the scoresheet is posted.

Plym20, My misunderstanding. He could have scored more but held back.

No problem. Berkle could have easily had 6, and I believe he hit a post in the 1st and the 2nd as well. He did get called for a penalty in the second which I thought was borderline, and I've made mention of this before on this board - Berkle is playing at a level that far exceeds the kid that he hit, and while it looked disastrous (and I'm not sure if they called it boarding or a charge) it was really just a clean, stiff check. He had given up his stride, kept his arms down, and didn't come from behind. But because of the power he hit the defenseman with (and the subsequent reaction and noise of the defenseman hitting the boards) it was called. Speaking of hitting, Bambi (who's not the biggest kid in the world) really put a nice shot on one of the Ryan forwards later in the game.
plym20 your pertty one sided with your team playing keep away. i believe ryan gave your team all they could handle in the first period. actually your parents appeared a little concerned. second period i believe was a little close also 4-2 before ryan self destructed how many power play goals were scored after that. the way you tell it your kid dominated the whole team. boy is he great now only if he new how to pass the puck. i guess there is noone out there on ryans team that played as hard as your kid or can compare to your kid. rayan has some pretty good players and with all the team has been through ( 7 coach changes) is in a pretty good position in the AAA standings and if these new coach knew how to shorten the bench a little instead of worrying about hurting feelings both kids and parents, this team would be better off. i don't think you have a great team, yes it is a good team. the difference is they are well coached. so keep on talking and bragging about your kid and the greatest team ever and it will be even sweeter to see them eliminated when they should win it, same as last year. a bunch of dads bragging about their kids on this board. things are good now that you are on top.

#17 shows a misconduct with 9 minutes to go - no game or match
i am glad. the boy just showed frustration without malice. i still believe that ryan has some of the best talent i have seen in this area. just wish they had stable coaching to make the boys a real team.
