Not a huge one...but I had Ghost ranked higher so I consider it a mild upset.

Matt Sacks,
I wouldn't call a #5 beating a #3 an upset, but that is all semantics anyway. In my opinion, a clear cut #3 for Ghost makes them overrated. I think you are still giving them credit for last year's flyers cup. I was at the game and Ghost was extremely sloppy, and Ryan controlled the game. Ghost's top players have way more talent than anyone on Ryan, but Ryan is solid all the way across the board. Which in my opinion makes them a better team at large at this point in time- which is why I wouldn't call it an upset. But I realize the responsibility of ranking the teams can be meticulous (and in reality i've only seen about 7 of the AAA teams play).

If I ranked AAA this month, I would have put:

1. La Salle
2. Roman
3. Ghost
3. Ryan
3. Malvern
3. Ohara
3. Judge
8. Salese
9. Prep
10. Bonner
11. GA

These teams are all pretty evenly matched (with la salle being the exception), which is great for AAA. And i realize that you probably can not put a 3 for all of the teams (then why rank them at all, right?) It's a shame that there are only 11 teams in AAA. It makes the rankings inflated. for example: "we are # 7 in eastern PA" sounds great until you add "but there are only 11 teams" to the equation.

Have you ever considered making an additional top 10, that would cover all of the teams in all three classes? I don't really know anything about all of the teams in southeastern PA, but I always enjoy looking at the football and hoops SouthEastern PA top 10s in the Inquirer that cover all teams from the catholic league, PIAA-all classes, and interac. I'd like to see where you, a person who has seen a large variety of teams in all classes, think teams like Henderson in A fall in with Pennsbury AA, haverford AA, and the AAA teams etc. or any of the other non-players who post on this board who seem to know what they are talking about could weigh in.

Not a bad idea, I'll think it over.

Putting five teams at #3 however would be taking the easy way out :-)

Was that before or after the fact that they got every call thrown their way after the first meeting between the two teams had the Ryan coach upset with officiating? Olivieri did nothing. No players stood out in the game. It was sloppy all the way around. Not to mention pretty classless to have your starting goal punch another player in the hand-shake line after the game. Not to say that I haven't seen this before but I think high school kids should be able to keep their emmotions in check, especially after you just won the game?

Look all I am responding to is the statement made Ghost's top players have way more talent than anyone on Ryan. And as far as the hand shake I guess the player that got punched was an angel and said good game. That player was yapping and complaining the entire game. lets not get into it. unless you are a scout or someone that can get my son to the next level your opinion means nothing to me. It a shame that there are idiots like you that ruin these posts and also the refs. they did everything they could as they always do to get your team back into the game. The last thing is your team holy ghost is so over rated it's a shame, you lucked out last year so enjoy it. It will be a long time before you see another championship. I don't hide behind names so if you need further discussion on this give me a call or approach me at the rink I will be more than happy to talk. In fact i have a good idea who you are maybe I'll approach you.

I will say that I think Holy Ghost does have more high end skill then Ryan. All that means nothing though when your players that are skilled continue to make stupid plays, dont play physical enough, and have many lapses in games where their play is sloppy. Ryan played much better as a team and worked harder then Holy Ghost Friday, and I dont think their is anything else to be said regarding the game.

I thought the officiating wasnt much different then any other Lower Bucks game this year. I thought they called it pretty even most of the night.

How did Holy Ghost luck out last year? They beat 2 very good teams in Lasalle and OHara to win the Flyers Cup. They didnt cut any corners in their playoff run. Anyone associated with the program will be the first to tell you that last season was no fairytale and their were a ton trials and tribulations along the way. We didnt dominate by any means. We did however come together as a team when it mattered most, and proved how successful a team could be when they are all working together. No one can disagree with that.

As far as not winning a championship for a long time, what makes you say that? They could win one this year or next for all any of us know. I havent seen anything that has happened to the program that would support your statement.

Its a long season, and there is alot of good AAA teams this year. I guess last year is proof to everyone that anything can happen, and we'll just have to wait until March for everything to be decided.

i have seen both teams play and would hve to admit that they are equally matched. oliveri is a wonderful defenseman arguably the best in the area he clearly can outperform anyone on the holy ghost squad. just wondering how did HGP fare at the tournament lastweekend? and how was the competition? you hear so much about the western PA teams and the other state's teams, how would the teams in this area match up?

Holy Ghost beat Meadeville 5-2 in their first game, lost 6-5 in their second game to Niagra Wheatfield (the eventual tournament champions) in overtime and in their third game beat St. Rita's from chicago in a shootout to cap a 5-2 third period come back.

Just an FYI - Meadeville is apparently on a very down year this year, at least according to everything I've seen.

Malvern-7
O'hara-3

#22 looked great for Malvern and had a hat trick

i also think Banes scored all 3 goals for O'hara

It seems like Malvern is the #2 AAA team having beat Roman, Ryan, Ghost and O'hara
