Is it just me or does it seem like there is no "big" names coming back for most local schools.
Last year you had:
O'hara-Cross, Newman, Cauly, Klingsmith
La Salle- John Williams
GA- Brian O'neil
LM- Nefield, Lundy
Springfield- Eastman, Von Mondvaigne (sp)
Penncrest- Ryan McIerney (sp)
Malvern- Josh Firley
Conestoga- Kyle Izzet
Haverford- Ian Finnerty

these are all kids who ha

(i know there are more i just wrote the players i can remember)

This year i can only name 3 players coming back who should be stars.
McDevitt- Dom Menero

GA- Brian O'neil (Not even sure if he is playing for GA but thought i would mention him)

Lower Merion- Lundy

and it seems like we have a huge goalie drop off, who is our areas top high school goalies, i can't think of any right now.

The goalie I think is going to have a huge impact is Charlie Johnson of PV. He went toe to toe vs. Milana last year in a couple games and was just as good. I think PV is the team to beat at the A level this year (although they play in an even weaker division this year than last). With several Tier 1 midgets & Jr B players on the roster, Johnson should extiguish any chances for other teams to win. They'll play Malvern's AAA team in November sometime, and I think they'll be able to keep it close. I say the score will be something like 4-3. As far as forwards go, I like Billy Latta of Henderson. Soroka and Seravalli made a nice impression with Holy Ghost last year, and should be dynamite this year. There's "names" out there, it will just take a little time for them to come to the forefront.

Charlie Johnson is definitely a top goalie in the area. It is always a huge advantage to have him in net for us, he can keep us in every game and he rarely lets a soft one in.

Mr. Stewart from Lower Merion played a great game last night in goal in a win over Haverford.

without these top players all these big name teams are not what they used to be. Carroll hurt the most out of them all having Moccia (d1)(UHL), Tangradi (OHL), Manz (prep), Piotrowicz (EJ), Aldinger and Silver they went from 4 flyers cups and 1 states in 5 years to 2 years later barely having a team. Even Malvern losing all there players are not the dominate force they were a few years ago. Along with Radnor

Barely having a team is an understatement...Carroll does not have a team this year.

A lot of the kids playing high school hockey now have all been underestimated in the past and this year there will be a lot of names coming up that not many people have heard of...you will find out soon

I sure hope so, last year the flyers cup games were not as good as they have been in the past though all of the levels..

Haven't heard must from Justin in Jersey? Is his team not doing as well or is he just not posting about it

Shawnee picked up a good goalie - Paul Gray.

Justin's Cherokee Chiefs are 3-2-1 so far this year. They lost the season opener to a very prepared Washington Township, and a close game to Shawnee (I warned Justin that Shawnee was up & coming but he just laughed at the no names on the roster.) Cherokee had 38 shots while Shawnee only had 21 shots but came away with the win.

everyone is starting to realize that its very very hard to make it somewhere in hockey if you stay around here. Thats why the better kids from here on out will continue to leave the area or not play HS hockey at all

I agree with chockey 100%, players with true talent are leaving to pursue prep school or elite JR teams. It will water down the high school programs but you cant blame these players for doing what they feel they need to do.
