I know this may seem bias, but Andrew Kloton, a freshman defenseman from Ridley has proven a lot. I play with him at the point against some top guys and he handled his own and was a part of the 5-0 shutout against HH and ties with Dtown West, Marple, and Haven....and sometimes he shows a little offensive skills

Seniors
1)Slagis
2)Haberle
3)Serveilli
4)Cottle
5)Ikkla
6)D'urbano
7)Orlando
8)Barthlemass
Goalies:
1)Boraske
2)Macughlla?
3)Markert/Taxin (Both having great years)

Mandell--- Are you talking about Markert from Strath Haven? If so, how do you leave out other goaltenders who carry the full load like McCullough from Springfield and Sutherland from Perk Valley? Sutherland, in particular, has identical shot and save% numbers and a lower goals against average? I don't dispute that Markert plays very well, but I can't rate him the best of the goalies who play every game while the Sutherland kid's wearing pads. What's your rationale?

I believe Jason has McCullough down as #2 on his list just a mis-spell? Sutherland from all accounts sounds like an excellent goaltender but is a goalie Jason has probably not seen being he is new to the area this year. Markert has had an excellent season in goal for Strath Haven and his steady play along with the addition of Slagis and the scoring of Grossman, has helped Haven turn things around this season.

goaldad33 - agree with you he(Mandell) just misspelled McCullough. To further your point on Sutherland and Markert, hhfan notes that he (Sutherland) carried the load - yes he played every minute of every game for PV (because they have no backup), which means his stats includes tough games and blowouts. Sutherland is the real deal and certainly deserves strong consideration for the top goalie in ICSHL - no question, (as would be expected being a billeted player from Conn. living here to play Jr hockey - not editorializing - just stating facts). McCullough has played all (but a few minutes in the first two games - again his stats reflect both tough games and blowouts). Markert has played 75 - 80 % of his team's games. His backup (who's stats are better) has played in two blowouts and the 0 - 0 tie w/Ridley. I don't know if this is the situation with Haven, but typically a backup goalie plays the lesser opponents or subs when the starting goalie is sick or unavailable. I would venture to say if Markert had played all of the games, his overall stats (goals against/save %) would be better than they currently are, probably better than Sutherland's.

In summary (even though this thread notes goalies weren't to be included - but someone brought it up), I would say that Markert deserves consideration as one of the top goalies as well Sutherland and McCullough (and Boarske, and Pyne, Fafara & Chapin (Pennsbury), Donzanti, Goldberg (CRN) Aman etc).

I completely agree with ralphy. Well, almost. I won't project how Markert might have done if he had played more games. My point was that to mention Markert without including McCullough and Sutherland would be to miss arguably the two top 'tenders in the ICSHL. And, I'm with ralphy, Sutherland IS the real deal and is perhaps the best goaltender in the league. He's big, he's fast, he plays a disciplined, yet aggressive game, and he is a leader on the ice. He also keeps the puck out of the net. McCullough has also had a fine year, though he's had an easier time of it, getting far fewer shots on goal than either Sutherland or Markert.

Wow - I'm not sure what year Mr. Mandell is but I've heard he can hold his own as a decent defenseman. However, I don't see him winning any literary prizes anytime soon. Boraske, you play with him, can't you tutor the young lad?

Haha. Mandell (hope he doesn't mind me revealing this) is an English 12 Honors student and an Advanced Placement United States History student as well. He just sometimes..makes typos, that's all.

At least... I hope.
