Ok, Since my printed prediction (and pool) are up in smoke. Here are my predictions for what remains.
A Semi's West is playing the best hockey of any team in the AA or A bracket right now. Shawnee has stepped it up in the post season too and their first line can compete with East. East is deeper, bigger, faster and will beat Shawnee tonight. PV and Rustin is harder to call. I saw the who's deeper arguement on a different thread and I have to agree that PV is the deeper team, both offensively and defensively. If they can hold the Ignatuk line to under three goals, PV should come out ahead. AA Semi's North Penn vs Pennridge is a grudge match for the ages. These two schools are natural rivals in every other sport and their should be 1000 people at Hatfield for this one. NP won both regular season games, Pennridge knocked NP out of the SHSHL playoffs with a 2OT win. The Coaches have somewhat of a storied history and these two teams just flat out dont like each other. In a very intense game........Pennridge 3-2. C.B. South and Conestoga I see a very physical game ahead of us. Masciantio has breakaway speed but South can counter that with Joey Kim, should they decide to use him as a shadow. Tough one to call, but since 'Stoga knocked off my pick to win it all (Methacton) and have the home ice advantage. I'll go with 'Stoga. |

Since you (surprisingly) picked the AAA final matchup correctly, is it safe to assume that you're sticking with the champion you picked as well?

Time to start looking at possible State Final matchups
LaSalle is the prohibited favorite to win the Flyers Cup and the Pennsylvania State Championship at Class AAA over either Pine Richland or Bethel Park. If Holy Ghost takes less than 5 penalties, they have a chance ! At AA, Conestoga,CB South, North Penn and Pennridge are a toss up. The winner gets Latrobe or Franklin Regional, which are two very deep teams with excellent goaltending Class A is Bayard Rustin and WC East who both beat Perk Valley late in the season handilly. I think Mars will be a tough matchup for any of those teams and Quaker Valley would be a toss-up at the State Finals. We will know by Thursday |

So far I see no reason to change it. I'll do My finals predictions after all the semi's are completed. I hit edit instead of reply, that's why it says I edited your post, I didnt touch it, I just cant remove that label. |

matt,
your assessments of the aa and a games seem right on. i have had the opportunity to watch a good number of cb south games and think they are one of the deepest skating teams around. kim, dimarino give them enough scoring, the have a couple of solid d-men and their goaltending is above average. biggest concern is that the coach will try to out think himself like he did in the pennridge series. he should let his boys attack and forget about shadowing. if he does i think cb south can pull it out. |

I'm not counting South out, they have more than a punchers chance. I just have to pick a winner.........
If they let Masciantonio roam free, they'll get hurt. Just my humble oppinion. |

Conestoga is like Perk Valley, they are very up-down. Its true if they let Rich Masciantonio have too much room he can score but also if they over-play him Vince M and Phil Cuddaback are more than capable of putting the puck in the net. Warner is also one of the quicker harder-hitting D-men, Conestoga is great when they keep their composure.
I won't bother with a perdiction since i haven't seen south play. |
