As a teammate I'd be thinking - Why do I now have to go over the boards every other shift as compared to every 3rd as a sacrificial lamb in this game while prima donna at the end of the bench is sitting with us down 9-2? Don't kid yourself - the saying is "We win as a team, we lose as a team" - it's not "We win as a team, but we lose as only the kids who are brave enough to be on the ice because their parents said they could with 5 minutes left". |

So it's ok if other players get paralyzed in blowouts??? Wow now I can see why you don't sit with other parents. Listen this is hockey, that stuff happens regardless of score or opponent. If I was ever told I couldn't play because we were getting blown out you'd be sure I'd be using a lot of explatives towards whoever told me. I was taught to play the best I could whatever the situation. And if we're down a ton I wouldn't give up I'd work harder to get my team in the game, regardless of how futile that might be. Great lesson your teaching your kid, when the odds are against you give up.

This game would probably be somewhat similar to the Chicago Showcase teams. Maybe have the 2 teams scrimmage? |

Maybe he plays hard when he's out there, maybe his head is always on a swivel because he's afraid of contact - I don't know. I will say that you telling the coach that you don't want him in games that are blow outs is ludicrous. My response would have been "Great. Your kid's on my team and I'll play him when I want, and if you don't like it, JV practices right over there, see if that flies with their coach". I will admit I haven't seen Bonner yet this year, but there's a chance I'll be at the Skatium on 1/28 to see them play against La Salle - I suppose I'll have to get there early to see him. |

I think that the game would be interesting and fun for the participants, but that the night prior to the PA Championships could be problematic. Coaches "risk" and I use that term very loosely, players all the time for a showcase list. The ICSHL All-Star games are a prime example of this. My obvervation at these showcase list games is that the players really enjoy participating. They have fun, they enjoy the recognition and they play quality hockey. A jolly good time all around. |

Funny, In the past 15 years I have never heard of this kid until his father started this rant on here? Again, not saying he is not a hard worker but I feel comfortable for now saying he does not stand out as on of the top 20 players or even the top 20 Defenseman in the eastern league let alone AAA overall.
I was also a Jr. Scout for a few years and don't recall the name. Perhaps he has a hidden talent and may be the #1 pic next year? I guess with all this chatter there will be a lot of College and Jr. Scouts at the next Bonner game to evailuate his play. This message has been edited. Last edited by: oldschool, |

You still never the answered the question though... is it ok that other kids are put out in those blowout games while your kid gets a manicure on the bench??? And seeing as your kid is such and impact player, why wasn't he out in that malvern game? It was only 5-1 after 2 periods. Listen your son and your family made the decision for him to play two teams. If his club team was getting blown out are you going to go up to his coach and ask him to sit your son so he doesn't get hurt. My guess is no because you'd get laughed at. It's a contact sport, people get hurt, if your not going to be there for your team when they need you, why be there at all?

If you been watching hockey in the area (outside of high school) and don't know my son you must live under a rock
and yet he hasn't finished a season at the varsity level to date |
|||
|
This is embarrassing..Have you no shame sir?

I don't live under a rock and I do spend a fair amount of time in the different rinks watching both school and club hockey. All I'm saying is, the name has never came across my radar screen? You may be right, all the scouts, Matt and the news media may have overlooked his superior qualities? Sounds like Bonner is very fortunate to have a high caliber defenseman like him.
Like I said, it sounds like everybody will have to be at the next Bonner game to watch. I guess we all better be there when the puck drops in case the coaches want to rest the top players later in the game? This message has been edited. Last edited by: oldschool, |

His kid is a pretty good player. Played on some very good teams in the past, but he is what he is.
Someone start a new thread. Somehow it changed from PA top 25 players to Brandon Trimback and Bonner. Start a thread "Brandon Trimback and his Bonner teammates" if thats what you want to talk about. This thread, which was a very good topic, has turned into a food fight. |

Again, is it ok for those other kids to risk injury? And also, it may just be high school hockey to you, but to some of your sons teammates it's more then that. Is that fair to them. Or are you only worried about your own kid? |

In Trimbacks defense (and I can't believe I am writing this) He never said that he felt that his kid should be on the list. That was never the issue.

Bonner's goalie also stood on his head. Holy Ghost played absolutly awful not to mention i believe they tied last year and Holy Ghost went on to win the flyers cup and Bonner didnt make it out of the first round. One game does not matter. |

I agree. The orginal thread was interesting. We should get back to it. |
