Hi Everyone,
Matt, this is alarming what I'm reading. I love Eastern PA High School Hockey, even with all the warts and whatnot. I've retired from being actively involved (which I was even when my son graduated and moved on to college). But I still follow it closely. It's all about the game for the kids, heck I'm looking foward to this seasons games. These guys keep on playing, even after high school. Whatever happens please don't let these bandits get their greasy mitts on the East!!! Alert all the high school club boards stat to these "villans". |

Moose, there are some people that I just cant get through too or they prefer to believe what they hear from out west. I'm done trying to convince them.
You're a reasonable person, so believe me when I tell you....it's just not happening. It's that simple. Remember, I have nothing to gain by taking the stance that I have on these false issues. Other's are paid employee's with reason's to try to keep the people that pay them happy. I guess some people like to stir the pot, hear themselves talk....whatever. Obviously my word isnt good enough, so I will stop trying to convince people of what I know, I will just wait for the season to start and (not) expect a few apologies, that's all. Maybe when some actual and offical facts are published about the new league all this noise will die down. I look forward to reading all about it at www.pihleast.org.

Matt,
Your word is gold ! My conversations with people in the East other than you reflect EXACTLY what you are reporting. I am not here to stir the pot....I am here to tell you that the truth is not being told to people in Western Pa, which hopefully all of you see. There is no question that some type of agreement between Eastern and Western Pa would be a good thing at some point. The goal should be advancement of the Sport and to grow publicity for the players, schools and leagues. That is the goal which should be in front of everyone, but unfortunately the business and financial opportunites are being discussed and more ways to pad people's pockets. These are non-profit 501 c 3 organizations and not for profit businesses. Since no one at the government level regualtes them, it is a license to steal for some people and believe me those people intend to take full advantage of any and all opportunities. All opportunities in Western Pa are going dry so now its time for the Western Pa people to sell their goods to Eastern Pa. Eastern Pa has over 100 schools playing Varsity and Western Pa has dwindled to under 50 at Class AAA, AA and A. Ten years ago, the number was 80 + for Western Pa and under 100 for Eastern Pa. Make your own conclusions, but I think people Eastern Pa for the most part are pretty smart and their eyes are open for the most part. |

I am sure if people are truly "stealing" the IRS would have a very keen interest. Drop a dime and that should take care of it.

You're well aware that no one has collaborated your "facts" yet and you have presented no hard edivedence of said "facts", wile multiple people using multiple sources have said the complete opposite. Mat Sacks (who is a well informed media person and knows more about HS hockey in this region than most) is getting his facts from many diffrent people, you are getting them from one man who is most likely biased about this suituation. In my opinion this is just the west being maniuplative in order to create dissedent in the east making it easier for them to divide and conquer. Also explain why phileast.org is just a go daddy logo wile icshl.org is still running strong. I think I will be playing in the ICSHL again for my senior year |

Thanks for the support Pez.
Not only do I have multiple sources....I was at the meeting! That's why this whole thing is laughable to me. You will definately be playing in the ICSHL this year. The leagues will not crash and burn. The first step is to get the four Philadelphia area leagues playing by the same set of rules. That is in the works and hopefully will happen this year. After that happens, hopefully a full merger among the teams in the East will take place. (One step at a time folks....Rome wasn't built in a day) |

So the HUGE NEWS IN HIGH SCHOOL HOCKEY comes down to the V2 teams getting thrown under the bus and the 4 leagues maybe playing by the same rules in 08-09. Last I checked we all use the same USA Hockey playing rules so this must be Administrative rules that no one really cares about anyway. Guess we can all go back to the beach now. False alarm.
You're correct Rome was not built in a day it took a THOUSAND years. While in the end it looked glorious from the outside it was fundamentally flawed and corrupt to the core and collapsed on to the scrap heap of history. Might want to find another analogy although PA Hockey might want to use this one for his friends out West. |

The Intercounty website has been changed to show the divisions for 08/09.
Effectively what I see is: Eastern League as a Varsity league disappears. They've separated all public from private, (except Shanahan which plays in Ches-mont), effectively placing teams to align with the affiliations of the other sports teams of their schools, Central, Chestmont and Pioneer (similar to what SHSHL tried to do last year). Created a 6 team Private II league (Wood, Carrol, McDevitt, Episcopal, Haverford School, LC) - note that Neumann is missing (maybe not returning to varsity??). This pulls all "private" schools out of Suburban as well. Very easily the Varsity II's could have played in this division, making it a 10/11 team league. But we know, it's not the "norm". Will Lower Merion continue as an "unpure" team in the Central League??? It shouldn't if the plan is to follow the "norm". Will all teams (Avon Grove for example) be required to field a varsity team as is the "norm"??? Interboro is listed in "Other Varsity" by themselves - should make scheduling interesting. However Salesianum is listed in Ches-mont???? What does that do to lower Bucks?? Their website just says they are preparing for the 2008-09 season. Do they now become a JV "league" similar to what ESHL is shown to be on the ICSHL website? With Neshaminy and Pennsbury in SHSHL. Reality is this kind of setup makes sense. Keyser…I just don’t have the energy to converse with you. you’re just one of these people that likes to live under a dark cloud. Everything is negative. The “Huge news” isn’t huge news because it hasn’t come to fruition yet? Everything I said in that initial post is being worked on, it might take time, it might not happen, but the ball is rolling.
Do I care if you disagree about it being huge news or a false alarm? Not really, I just wonder why some people are only happy when they are trying to put other people down. “Rome wasn’t built in a day”….you know exactly what I meant, yet you feel the need to give a history lesson and call it a bad analogy. Enjoy your misery, feel free to have the last word, I’m done conversing with you as I feel you have nothing to offer this conversation except your pessimistic attitude, and I’m just not interested in feeding into it. Enjoy the beach! |

Rest my friend....it’s a long season ahead for truth seekers and sycophants alike. We shall speak again. "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that... he is gone. " |

I looked at the website too, and thought it looked good, and is a great start. I would like to see the Suburban League on the icshl website too. I feel that the icshl is the most reliable and user friendly out of all the sites, so it would just make sense to put everything there. Lower Merion should not be allowed to play if they are unpure. Salesianum should be in the Private II division, and nowhere else. I dont know why they would be put anywhere else. Neumann-Gorretti, no varsity? Maybe theyre playing South Jersey again? Again, if they are, makes no sense to me. I dont know why "V2" teams would want to play in the Private II division. The JV AAA league is going to be very competetive. I would assume the bottom teams in the JV division will be better then the top teams in Private II. If this stays the way it is, in a few years the JV AAA division will be better then alot of the varsity divisions in the area. I heard a rumor that Bonner and OHara JV teams didnt enter the JV AAA league. Is this true? |
