Anyone have a final from their first game yesterday? the Explorers opened against La Salle Academy of Rhode Island, who I found out Delbarton beat 4-1 last week. Depending on how they fare they get the winner or loser of the Bishop Guertin (NH State Champ) / St. Joseph's Academy (Buffalo, NY - NY State Prep Champ) game. In the two late games I found Fairfield Prep (CT State Champ) beat Springfield Cathedral (MA) 3-1 and the host Mount Saint Charles beat Natick (MA) 6-2.

LaSale College HS Beat LaSalle Academy 2-0. LaSalle PA out shot them approx 50 - 20 shots. Goals scored by Schmidt and possibly Wallin ( although it is rumored that it should be Zoldy's goal. That play St. Josephs Academy tonight at 6 PM

Thanks for the update - I couldn't find a score anywhere on the net. I did find the other final - St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute over Bishop Guertin 3-2 in OT. That St. Joseph's team (at least according to their website) is the 4 time NY State Champ. Should be a good game today.

Details of the game. First goal Tyson from denzci and Schmidt, Second - Zoldy from Berkle, Third - Berkle from tyson and Schmidt, Fourth, empty netter by Schmidt after blocking a shot from the point, collecting it and taking it all the way back to the empty net at the other end. Pyne was solid. Defense moved the puck well and was consitent. Third line had a good night. Tomorrow's game should be tough. It looks like it will be Fairfield. They jumped out to an early lead over Mt. St Charles and seemed to be taking it to them pretty hard.

It sounds like Schmidt is having one hell of a hockey tournament. Fairfield Prep did win that game over Mt St Charles last night, 6-4. They jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one and then held on. If memory serves the Explorers beat Fairfield Prep 5-1 last year in the third place game. Should be a good game tonight.

I look forward to hearing how the Explorers fare against Fairfield Prep.

So are they playing in the barn with chain link instead of glass that was shown on Ice Kings?

Yes They are playing in the Rink with Chain Link Fence instead of glass. The ice is also small.

That's unreal for La Salle to go up there and not only compete with a field of that caliber, but win the tournament. 4-2 over the NY State champ and 6-0 over Connecticut's. 12 goals for versus 2 against. Not to sound egotistical, but who's left for them to play? BC High? Catholic Memorial? Is it time to start talking of them as best time from this area ever (or at least recent memory)?

Ever? Their last AAA Flyers Cup came in 1998, Malvern has won five since then. You're putting the carriage before the horse. Are they the best team in the area THIS year, yes. But they were the best team last year too and lost to Ghost in the Semi-finals.

That's probably an over reaction on plym_20's part. However, they are the only undefeated HS team in this area, and have played a very tough schedule. Only time will tell if they can continue and finish out at the level they are currently playing. Whatever happens, the LaSalle faithful should enjoy it while it lasts, rumor has it that several of the top juniors are headed to NE prep schools next year and foregoing their senior year at LaSalle.

No doubt Ralphy, LaSalle is the best team this year, but to hear "the best team ever" made me flinch a bit, especially since it's still the regular season, they haven't won anything yet.

I disagree with not "having won anything yet". They went up to Mt. St. Charles and beat two reigning state champions. I can't think of any other teams in this area who can say something similar. Perhaps "best team ever" was stretch, but who in this area historically has ever held their own against such stiff competition?

Its a great tournament win for Lasalle.

Keep in mind the gap between the best teams each year from this area, and teams outside of the area is shrinking. 10-15 years ago no team in PA or NJ could go outside the area and be competetive. Now it can be done as Lasalle has proven, and Delbarton has also proven.
