I see now on the La Salle HS website that they have cancelled the Lawrenceville Prep game scheduled for 2/16. Have they backed out of the Trinity Pawling tournament at the end of zFebruary as well? Is there a reason for all this? Does it relate to club commitments? If Flyers Cup doesn't start until 3/15 or so for them that will leave them almost three weeks off between games.

I was actually wondering at the Empire Cup Tournament because I checked the website about a month ago and LaSalle wasn't one of the teams on there. I figured maybe another team had dropped out and they were playing as a fill-in team

LSCHS Head Coach Wally Muehlbronner
According to LSCHS Head Coach Wally Muehlbronner this contest was canceled due to the the number of Lawrenceville players committed to an NAHL Showcase in Ann Arbor. He expressed disappointment at not being able to reschedule the event and noted that the Lawrenceville School tried very hard to reschedule and should be credited for their efforts. He also noted that the two teams have had a long standing relationship and that it will continue in the future. While there could be any number of reasons for canceling a game in the world of high school hockey the most interesting reason is definitely not the case here as the La Salle Head Coach certainly makes clear. It would have been a great game for tri-state hockey had it been possible to reschedule.

The Valley Forge Minutemen U18 team is entered in this showcase so that must be the problem.

It would have to be La Salle that cancelled - Lawrenceville Prep rescheduled another team for that ice slot, 1:15 on 2/16. I think it's either Bergen Catholic or Bishop Eustace.

I know this year will graduate Pyne, Berkle, Laessig, and Zoldy. Any idea where any of them are going? And as of the Juniors, how many of them are thinking about leaving? Tyson, Schmidt, Pascal, Denczi? Maybe even Varley, a sophomore?

Looks like a good showcase and some good midget teams. Good warmups and test for if you make it to U18 Nationals.

Not sure if any of the VFMM kids are looking at Juniors (NAHL,etc).

Bunch of the Juniors will most likely head to prep, word is Wally encouraged them to move on to better things.

I think Varley will depend on if anything happens in OHL/USHL draft options as a 92.

Ive heard rumors around the rinks of Schmidt, Tyson, Denczi, Pascal, Antoni and Varley exploring options. Its still very early. Prep schools are still going through the admissions process for transfers, and junior A teams really dont set the first part of their rosters until May or June. I'd say that 3 of those 6 wont be back next year, with Tyson and Pascal likely going to New England Prep schools. They could all be back though, alot can happen or change in the next few months. I dont think Varley is ready for "real" Junior A next year, not saying it will or wont happen. He is definitely a prospect though. At his size I think he would need another year to work on his foot speed.

Even if Lasalle does lose most of those kids, they have plenty of depth in the program, and many good players returning. They should still have a very competetive team next year no matter what.

Any word on the incoming freshmen class for LaSalle? Any good talent in the Class of 2012?

A few of the kids I coach said they have a few good kids coming in, but not as good as their sr, jr and soph classes. A top scorer from the Little Flyers 94, a Mercer 94 defenseman, a goalie from Comcast 94, a coaches son from Jr Flyers 94 and some Ice Dogs 94s. Thats all I know, could be more, could be less, this is coming from kids who play with or against these kids.
