Henderson is not a AA team.

AA and A are defined by size of school. their size is what makes them A. If they wished to "play up" at AA. I'm sure the Flyers Cup committee would allow it, but that decision needs to be made before the season starts, not after you get a chance to see which tournament is a better fit.

Matt,

What were the actual numbers for dictatating what level each team plays at. From the PIAA website, it looks as if many of our "A" teams would have been playing "AA" out in Pittsburgh, a number of our "AA" teams would have been playing "AAA". And yes, I know PIAA doesn't control hockey, I'm just citing male population in the school district data. I can cite a few examples if you're interested. It looks as if the Pittsburgh teams rank their schools much like Soccer, which only has the 3 levels (A, AA & AAA). Additionally, why is it that we feel compelled to have only Catholic schools/Private schools at the AAA level? If you look out west, most of the AAA schools are public schools. I realize this issue will create another firestorm of public opinion, and I appologize ahead for that. Smiler

I believe the cutoff number is 650...if not, it's close to that. It is higher than the Pittsburgh number and that is because generally the schools in the East are larger than the schools in the West. In order to "Balance" the AA and A numbers they tried to find a median so that an equal (or close to it) amount of teams would be AA and A.

I am all for the larger public schools playing AAA. The schools themselves however dont want to do it. They feel it is unfair that they have to compete against open enrollment schools and teams that recruit players from their organization. (I cant say that I blame them)
