This years Lasalle team is one of them.

Ohara 2 years ago was loaded, and the Malvern Prep teams from the late 90s up until 3 years ago were also loaded.

The Radnor teams of a few years ago were also some very talented teams in the A division.

hgp fan, what about any of the LBCSHL teams? Isn't that your league, I thought you might pick one of them.

Father Judge was loaded in the 1999-2000 season as was the Conwell-Egan team in 1998-1999. As for the public schools, you should put Council Rock on the list. They are the only public school to win 2 Flyers Cups before everything was based on enrollment. They also took it to Malvern in 1997 or 1998 and should have won it that year but it was a best of 3 series.

Shouldn't there be an asterisk on the Malvern teams under Graves? Didn't he recruit players and pay for their tuition? I wouldn't call that good coach and developing talent, but the best that money could buy.

They didn't break any rules, so why an asterisk? You don't think other private schools recruit? They just did it better then the others.

FlyersFan, I agree about the council rock teams from the late 90's they were defintly one of the most talented. The CEC team didn't have that many players but still managed to beat a stacked Malvern team and win states. Judge had some great players too like manigrassi, viscuse and gibson. So what if Graves bought players(which nobody knows is actually true) other teams that didnt buy players still managed to beat them.

I would be interested to see a top 10 in the past 10 list from Matt and maybe some input from Jeff Nolan.

Carrol had some teams in the early 2000's that might make that list. And the 98 Garnet Valley team was pretty stacked.

I've only been around since 1999-2000, But I'll try to come up with something from the past 8 years.

For the Lower Bucks League:

HGP at the AA level in 2003 was a very good team that won Flyers Cup. Gunderson, Worthington, Steacker, Lawall, etc.

Judge at the AAA level in 2000 was very good too, probably wouldnt consider them one of the best teams in the last 10 years though. They had alot of talent, and players knew their roles.

The CEC team at the AAA level in 99 was similar to the Holy Ghost team last year. They had some very good players like Tetley, Delfin, Bannon and Cusanno, but they werent top to bottom stacked, they had some weak links. They got hot at the right time and beat a stacked Malvern team that probably had around 5 future D-1 players on it. Still probably one of the biggest upsets in the last 10 years.

I still cant believe what has become of the CEC program. Bad organization from the top. They still have a ton of players to draw from, they just cant put together a competent board and staff. Hopefully they get things on track, they just need someone to step up.

I wanted to keep it as ONE season per organization, I could have put five different Malvern and four different Carroll teams, but instead I tried to pick the best year from each team.

Also, the tough thing was, before the re-alignment of Flyers Cup, there wasnt really true 'A' teams playing for the 'A' Flyers Cup. Roman Catholic to me is a AAA team, they played Radnor in the 'A' Finals in '02 and had a great team (should they be on the 'A' list?) I decided no.

On the other hand, I put Ghost and Carroll in at AA. Why? I have no idea....it is a conflict to my previous paragraph, but things were so backwards a few years ago, I don't know where anyone belongs.

So since this list is just for fun, I did it the way I felt like it.... with no rules. Smiler

AAA
Malvern '02
La Salle '03
O'Hara '06
Father Judge '00
GA '05
Eastern Regional '04

AA
Holy Ghost '03
Carroll '01
Haverford '05
Abington '04
Wood '04
W.C. East '04
Henderson '03

A
Radnor '02-04 (Let Jigga pick the year)
Henderson '07
Springfield '01
Penncrest '05
Methacton '01

2004 Radnor was one of the of the deepest teams I've seen since 2001

2004 Caroll, 2003 Ghost, 03 or 04 WC East, 01-04 Malvern.

Yes Malvern did recruit but many of the players came from area's that typically to send students to malvern. Ghering's and Campanele's are both from Chester Springs, Curren is from Berywyn..and ECT so it's not as if they were taking alot of their talent from far away areas for the most part.

Kenny Wochle was from Ridley. Not many people in Ridley township send their kids to La Salle...GA, Malvern, La Salle, HGP all do some sort of recruiting and it's not against the rules so they are not at fault.

I have no problem recruiting, but could those players have afforded to tuition at Malvern? Does Ghost, LaSalle, Malvern, G.A. offer tuition assistance or scholarships? That would tip the scales in their favor. Schools like Judge, Ryan, Roman are private schools, but they do not offer scholarships and their tuition is a fraction of the cost of the other schools. Just my humble opinion.
