i did not realize that barnes had come back from wyoming seminary. he has always been an excellent player with the great nj rockets teams that lead the atlantice district for years. i have not seen him play but can't imagine that one could keep him off this list.

SmilerHGP Fan. LaSalle is playing Delbarton on Wednesday 11/28 @ Hatfield Ice 5:25 PM. No Admission. Should be a great game.

I will most likely be at the game. It will be interesting how lasalle's top 6 match up against
Delby's top 6 of Nerbak, Smigelski, Kase, Agostino, Pirovano and Ambrosio. Top defenseman Velishek has already committed to Providence too. I think the skaters of these 2 teams match up well, but Lasalle is better in net. Should be a good game.

I'll be making the trek up north for the game.

I always thought the NJ private schools that played for the state title were not allowed to play PA schools.

I haven't seen as many games as some of the other posters on the board, but I have seen Seravelli a couple times and I think he's aces. Extremely quick and with an attitude - when he keeps his head he's very good (although I have seen him take two stupid penalties in the two games I've seen him from losing his cool). I think the defenseman Laessig from La Salle should get consideration as well - as much as Schmidt and Berkle and Pyne get all the attention (and rightly so), Laessig is a rock on that backline - moves the puck, can take the body, is quick, and haas an outstanding poke check that doesn't put him out of position if he misses with it.

Nope, but because NJ teams are governed by their state athletic association (equivalent of the PIAA) they must play 75% of their schedule against NJ teams governed by this athletic association.

Holy Ghost plays PDS, Lawrenceville, St Augustines and Bishop Eustace this year. I know Lasalle has traditionally played Delbarton, Pope John, Don Bosco, Bergen Catholic, etc.

I agree Laessig along with Pascal are Lasalle's top defensemen.

it is a shame there are other players out there that are not being looked at. look at some of the schools that are in a rebuilding year or process and their top players stuck it out! Very rarely do you see a kid transfer between high schools.

I agree...there are a good amount of seniors on teams in the process of rebuilding years. There are many young players some teams with top quality seniors that are playing in competitive high school leagues as well as top of the line club teams that are not getting the recignition they deserve

i personally think that some of them that were listed for the DHI Cup (which are all seniors) should be looked at. not saying that all of the boys listed on the DHI rosters were the top but some of them sure are: esp your PA and NJ Prep/Private rosters. I know club and school coaches were called for their opinions on the players. and believe me, coaches know all of the kids listed.

Jayson Ritchey of Wissahickon has got to be up there in top players. He plays in the SHSHL 'A' divison which is a pretty terrible league, but he flat out dominates. Also made team Philadelphia in the Chicago showcase last year and played well.

I tend to agree. Jayson is one of the top players in the area. What a great level headed kid. Remember he also went to Canada to play Jr A! See my point! You can not rely on just the AAA teams to pick the best players. Look at a school that is currently in transition to bring back hockey. Carroll. There 2 top players are defensemen and played AAA for 3 years. Then you have Jackson from Rustin and yes both Cottle and Latta too should be added. Slagis who just got back into playing high school should be added. notice non of the teams any of these kids play on are AAA high school.

Last seasons All-Breakaway teams consisted of 24 players.

Coincidentally....Eight players came from AAA teams, Eight players came from AA teams and Eight came from A teams.

This was NOT by design, and in fact it is the first time I even bothered to break it down....just to see where the "recognition" is going. Seems to me that by our standards, it's being spread out pretty evenly.
