I'm not really talking sides here but one thing that may be a factor is Interboro's best defensemen sustained and injury that may eliminate him from playing for the rest of the season.
He is a key player in shutting down the opposing teams top lines.
I hope he can recover from the injury because they will need him against the faster teams. Interboro is well coached and pehaps adjustments can be made.

Marple was very simular to Springfield(D). Both teams started off slow under a new coaching staff however over time these coaches did a great job and both teams look faster and more confident now. Both should do very well.
Thats the payoff of hiring coaches with experience over politics.

That's a good point BJ. Coaching is going to play a big part in the chase, and as I mentioned earlier, with an upset or 2, the path to the semi's can put a lot of teams in contention at both A & AA.

From what I've seen either watching from the stands or on the ice, some of the best coaching jobs this year:

Council Rock N: looked like a nothing year early on, but turned it around without any major impact players.

CB West: Dave is always prepared.

Pennridge: has the passion and is dedicated. (has a pretty good pool of players too).

Methacton: they could surprise. Interesting game.

PV - team has talent, will need the discipline to go with it - this will be where the coaching can be the difference in how far they go.

Who else ?

Is there a coach of the year ?

Another topic: Upset specials ??

We don't give out a coach of the year. It's a way to make one friend and 150 enemies. Smiler

as far as the Interboro-UD matchup goes, here's my take:
Interboro has a solid squad and a lot of experience and you can't take that away from them. they have two players that are top two in the league in scoring so obviously thats going to help them put points on the board.

however, i have to say i disagree with the fact that upper dublin is not a "team" as someone said (it slips my mind right now who it was). although UD is under a first year coach as hockey44 said, this team has about 5 or 6 players that have been playing club hockey at Wiss Skating Club under this coach and know him very well. also, that same coach led his team with i believe 4 of the current UD players including the "weaker" goalie in comparison to that of Interboro's according to some people, to teh Atlantic District Championship for 18U A. And to also expand on the "team" concept, these guys know each other as well as any other team in the league. They have been together as a full team since 6th grade, with the current seniors always being the oldest grade every year. There is a strong team concept with this group.
Another point,
obviously UD can't help their schedule. but keep in mind, they play teams in their division (Wiss, Sprignfield, LaSalle, PW) four times a season, and UD won the season series against each team. keep in mind three out of those 4 are in flyers cup. and yes, they did play some tough out of league games, such as Methacton and Hershey. Nonetheless, however, UD did tie Great Valley, as was previously mentioned. I know from talkin to the people on the team that they were not focused for that game, and it really was a breaking point for them in the season that got their heads straight and focused on a goal.

that's my input, sorry its a book. should be a good game regardless..good luck to both teams and everyone else in flyers cup this year.

Upper Dublin is the best all around team in the SHSHL Varsity A, their scoring is spread more evenly across the team than others. In the tie with Great Valley, and the loss to Methacton, their starting goalie was out with a concussion. UD's starting goalie has the best GAA and save percentage (.884) in SHSHL. Their backup goalie had a .812 save percentage - huge difference.

Should be a good game, don't write them off.

Interboro is a decent team, but like what big jim said, without caratenudo, it will be hard for them to win. They only have a few good defensemen and he is one of them. Also, they do not have much speed surrounding their lines. Froio and Schuler can move, but not many others can. Senatore can also score from when he wants, but he has to keep control. Senatore and Fro are huge factors in the Flyers cup not to mention their goalie is a decent freshmen, but does not have experience like Lowthart did. Interboro will prob. be knocked out by the sec. round if Caratenudo is unable to go

Nobody pays much attention to the A division in the SHSHL. As a result, UD has been pretty much a secret. Time to let the cat out of the bag, UD. (Ask Hershey).
