hockeyisfun. i believe the post was regarding dmen not forwards, so any discussion about moyer, welch and the others is for another time (and i agree with some of your selections). as for your dmen selections i concur with a couple especially wanner who i believe is a wonderful dman. as for your vitriolic comments against lasalle my suggestion would be to simply calm down especially since we are not discussing their moral righteousness but just defensemen.

I agree with crusader, not only regarding this topic line, but throughout the forum. ALL of these kids are good players. They are a tiny percentage of those who started as mites. The rest are all gone. They quit after squirt, they quit after checking started, after pee wee they got interested in something else, and by bantam they got interested in lacrosse, girls, or simply weren't willing to do the work. We ought to be able to talk about the good qualities of these kids, all of whom have risen to the top tier at their age level, and compare them with their competitors without going negative. You can be a strong advocate for a kid without without dumping on the rest.

At what point did I dump on other players or "go negative"? Your right crusader, this is a defenseman topic but someone said something about berkle and schmidt. If anything Crusader has gone negative of most who are not in a LaSalle Uniform

hockeyisfun. i did not go negative and in fact mentioned lightheart and oliveri in my first post as well as agreed with your assessment of wanner. if mcdyre was a high school dman you could add him, but believe np played him at center. in the end even you have to admit that lasalle had several fine dmen who could be listed near the top. if you don't agree then fine, but chill out on the vituperative statements.

My thoughts on the poll are that you can have 100 lasalle people vote for Varley because he goes to Lasalle. Is it a coincidence that Lightheart and Oliveri play for the minutemen? Maybe that is why you named them. And for ranger, your obviously a Lasalle player or parent as is crusader. So naturally, your assessment will be that of your own team first.

McDyre? I don't think he has ever played D any where. What is that about?

The only defenseman you mentioned that would crack the top 4 on Lasalle is Wanner on Stoga.

How can you not have either Berkle or Schmidt as the top forward? Both were top scorers in AAA play and Flyers Cup AAA tournament. Their team won both the AAA Flyers Cup and State Final. My choice would go to Berkle, but haveing seen both them play many times, they are pretty even based on skill.

The forwards you mentioned are all good players, but none accomplished more then the Lasalle players.

Also Nick Seravalli put up great numbers as the 2nd leading AAA scorer, and the leading Flyers Cup scorer.

Not sure if these 3 will all be 1st team Breakaway, but I dont think its possible for the 3 not to make at least the top 6.

Please Blaker would be there top D man

Maybe a great way to name the top anyplayer would be to name the players that had the most impact at the level that they played at, A, AA, AAA... How about it Matt, would that be equitable?
