Carl --- Did you see any of the games? I was unable to (business interferred). If so, was there anything interesting or noteworthy?

Perk valley La Salle game was very exciting. Southerland made some great saves in the last two minutes to take the game into overtime, Perk valley player skated it from the top of the blue line across the slot and slipped one right by La Salle II goalie on the left side, very pretty shot.

Stoga was winning 3-1 when i walked into the othe rink, when i came back it was 5-4 in favor of Boyertown going into the 3rd. Stoga tied it up and the game headed to overtime, the ref missed a pretty obvious trip from a boyertown player to Rich M on Stoga. About 6 minutes into the Overtime Switcha (i think)) took a huge slap shot from the point skating in the zone and beat the Boyertown goalie top right.

Would have liked to have seen Henderson and D-town West. I'll have to request off some days from work to get out there and see some of this action.

With three upsets in the first round of the presidents cup (considering seeding), and three games last night that went down to the wire (2 OT games and Rustin scoring late to win), I would say Carl this tournament format so far has been a big success.

The PV LaSalle II game was phenomenal, Sutherland making two fantastic saves in the first to keep the score at 1 - 0, LaSalle goalie Shiels making big stops to keep PV off the board in the second period when PV stepped it up, and again Sutherland making a big stop in the final seconds to force overtime. It's ashame someone had to lose that game.

Carl,
How come they don't re-seed for each round?

Why bother? Your reward for beating a higher seeded team is their supposedly easier "path" to the championship.

For example, the NCAA baskeball tournament doesn't re-seed. #15 Nobody beats #2 Duke, they get to play as #2 for the rest of the tournament. Flyers Cup doesn't re-seed, either.

Its one thing to do it (re-seed after each round) with a small number of teams (NFL playoffs), its a much more complicated job with a large tournament field.

I just think it's not that difficult (but I'm not scheduling rink time), plus it diminishes the value of the regular season. You play the whole season just to be seeded in the first round then your advantage goes away.
