My admittedly biased analysis of the Judge-Ryan game:
It was a great game, tight, hardhitting, and back and forth, until Judge opened it up late in the second period. Pastch and Meade of Judge were basically unstoppable and were head and shoulders above anyone else on the ice tonight (combining for 5 goals). They basically put the game away in the end of the second by getting 3 quick goals in the last 2 minutes of the second period to make a 2-2 tight game an uphill battle (5-2) game for Ryan. Ryan came out motivated and organized, but were not able to shut down Patsch and Meade. Shots were even as well, 31-31, and Pettiti played decent, making some big saves when Ryan got some pressure late in the game. Ryan's goalie Carroll looked shaky and got yanked after Judge's 5th goal. I am not one for mentioning names in a negative light, so lets just say that no individual players on Ryan looked impressive or overly dominant tonight. Interestingly, the rink was empty. Barely any students for the biggest game of the year, let alone a Ryan-Judge game, surprises me. I think this has something to do with the fact that niether team has played in a month. Something should be done to get rid of this ridiculous lay-over next year. Does anyone know what time the LaSalle vs. Judge game will be on Friday night? I assume it will be at Hatfield. |

Any details on the La Salle - Prep game? Surprised to see it was so close.

My attempt at an unbiased analysis of the Ghost-O'Hara game:
Ghost came out and scored first, which I think was a big weight off their shoulders after a sloppy game on Monday. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th goals for Ghost were tricklers, outside of a good shot from Paul Burns for the first goal. A different bounce in a couple instances could have kept it a 1-1 game. The biggest play of the entire game came when Ghost was leading 3-1 with just over 8 minutes to go and O'Hara on the power play. Murray came through on a 2-1, criss-crossed with Coll and backhanded a shot past Berardi. The goal was disallowed by the referee however, saying Coll was in the crease. It was a pretty close call, and I think the only reason it was called is because it did appear to prevent Ghost's goaltender Berardi from coming across the crease to make the save. About a minute later, Ghost scored the other way to make it 4-1 and pulled away a bit. One thing I will say is that Ghost got sloppy and a little careless towards the end with a 5-1 lead and about 3 minutes remaining. O'Hara actually pulled the goalie and scored twice to make it 5-3 before Zemzik scored an empty netter to ice it. I give a ton of credit to the Lions for continuing to battle and fight even though it was a 4 goal defecit. They battled hard and played until the end. One final note: As always, the game will be archived on www.wbcb1490.com - just go to the sports section on the lefthand tab and scroll to the bottom for all of the Hockey Night in Bucks archives. |

Lasalle game was 5 -0 outshooting prep 51-15. Prep goalie played great, keeping them in the game.

I heard some people at the game say the reason it was called back was because it was a late off-sides call. I was down the other end, so I missed the call. Any truth to this? Or was it definitely a crease violation? |

I actually mentioned on the broadcast that I originally thought it was offsides, but that's a REALLY late offsides call if that's what it was. The referee was pointing at Coll, though, so the three of us all assumed it was for him being in the crease.
Sometimes I wish hockey was like football and the referees had mics. That would make life so much easier. |
