Who are the best HS players from this area ever? I can only speak of guys I either played against late 80's or early 90's, or guys I've seen in the past couple years. I'm sure there are guys who have left to play Prep or Juniors, but let's limit it to guys who played HS in this area. From "my era", I'd have to go with Larry Wendler (1989 grad year - either Rock or North Penn, don't remember exactly - it was a navy blue blur on the ice), Eric Tye (deadly slap shot from Wood), or Lang and Latare (1990 grad year)from Tennant. Wendler used to kill 2 minute minors by just skating the puck in circles himself. Best I played with was Donny Quinn of La Salle - he was a freshman when I was a senior in 91. I think he led our team in points as a first line center as a freshman with 3 points per game. By the time he was a senior (1994) I believe he was a 100 points + guy. He really was the beginning of La Salle being a very good team (and also the beginning of the school fully funding the program).

Mike Lang has certainly digressed. He was a linemate of mine three years ago in mens league....now he is singing in a cover band and gave up hockey.

I can't speak of his musical career, but he and Latare together with a big winger (I think his last name may have been Bernstein or something of the like) on Tennant's top line were nearly unstoppable. Lang and Latare were both quick as light and the big wing would flat out punish defenseman.

I'm pretty sure Mike Bernstein was a defenseman. Mike Pietrangelo might have been the other winger.

I wasnt around back then....but I play with a bunch of those guys now and hear the stories/names in the locker room.

No, Pietrangelo was a second or third line guy in 1991. This guy was probably a senior when Pietrangelo was a freshman or sophomore.

This guy was sneaky - Lang and Latare would be flying around and you'd look up in the third period and this big wing would have three goals and an assist and two or three of your defenseman would be checking their shoulders and collarbone's to make sure they were still intact. He was a clean hitter, just hit like a ton of bricks. It was definitely a Jewish last name though.

The player in question is Paul Greg. That line of lang, Latare and Greg had their way with high school during their time. However, I would not list them as the best of all time.

I watched my cousins play for (Haverford High, Bonner, Haverford Hawks and Jr Flyers) in the early 90's

I remember:
Ryan Mulhern (Malvern)
Billy McNellis (Haverford)

Chase Watson, Brett Watson and Chris Lawerence was pretty dominate for Malvern in like 97 or 98.
