Great, havent played there since I quit Delco. Oh well rules are rules (this one actually makes sense so I can't complain anyways). Do you have any idea of how good this york team is?

After Reading the paper this morning Chuck Smith I would have to agree that i dont know why Sun Valley and Interobro got in over Garnet Valley. Yes Sun Valley and Interboro may have ahd more wins but they both lost to Garnet Valley and both had much weaker schedules. I guess we will learn a lot after the Gv Sv game tonite.

Using that logic, we should be in since we beat Garnet twice

I'll just say this quick piece. I respect the job the committee did and think they did a solid job in both brackets. My only beef is that I feel teams like Garnet Valley (along with Radnor and Penncrest) almost get penalized for playing such a tough schedule in the regular season.
The inclusion of varsity-II (JV) teams on a varsity schedule is still a joke to me and contributed (somewhat) to this situation. I know strength of schedule and quality wins are the main points for selection, but they don't tell the whole story. Congrats to the two Delco squads (Sun Valley and Interboro) that got in, but if I had to choose one squad who got slighted based on my opinion it would have been Garnet Valley.
I get the reasons why Sun Valley, Interboro, and P-W are in and GV is out. I understand the logic, I just disagree to a point--no harm, no foul.
Plus--any chance I can take to criticize Carl, Matt, and the boys only makes it better. J/k

sm14 im guessing that you play for Penncrest and yes your in the same boat but you lost to radnor the other night where we GV beat them 10-0 not a week earlier. I would have to say the Penncrest Radnor and Garnet Valley should have made instead of Sv Interboro and P-W. I also do realize that you need to represent all the leagues not just the ICSHL.

What is everyone's take on the FC schedule? The week of March 17th, ALOT of school districts are on Spring Break. Anyone venture to say how it will impact the various teams?

Actually, I coach Penncrest. Strength of schedule should and does enter in to the seedings, but a win is a win and records do count for something. Are we better than some teams that got in? Maybe, but you've got to prove it by winning games and our record and Garnet's aren't exactly "Cupworthy."
I do think it opens up a debate about the "one league-one set of standings" approach for the ICSHL this year at AA and A. Certainly would have made some sense for us to play Sun Valley - a neighboring district - in league play as opposed to Rustin, Henderson or Kennett. But those teams are a good measuring stick to compare us to the rest of the A teams so there's some merit in that.

It's nothing new. It happens every year. Players involved have a decision to make.

I can take it....I'm a fan of Garnet Valley and would like to have seen them make it, they were the last cut. (I lobbied hard for them last season and they were one of the last teams filled in, I didn't this season)On paper they have a nice roster, they just didn't get it done this year. Carl asked to give the winner of tonights game the slot, but everyone aggreed that the team should picked then (yesterday) or it would open up a can of worms for everyone else that played this week.

I think a smart thing to do would be for the leagues to finish their postseason/playoffs BEFORE the committee seeds everyone. Obviously the committee needs a week prior to the start of Flyers Cup in order to get the ice and dates set, so no playoffs should be allowed to go into March. This way we avoid problems like Sun Valley vs Garnet Valley and CB South (#8 AA) vs Pennridge (#6 AA). Plus, any potential conflicts with Atlantic District playoffs is avoided too. Seems pretty easy to me.
