Ok, It's been a little boring in here. Let's get right down to it....

Now that the season is winding down, who's in and who's not. What are your pics for the playoffs and Flyers Cup. Any upsets or surprises??

My rankings
A
1) Kennet- Best defensemen in the area and the player who I would give player of the year to. They should ride solide all around play to a flyers cup victory

2) PV- has earned my respect this year but didn't play a great game aganist a not very strong great valley team

3) Penncrest- Beat stoga, big game experice should help the lions go far in the flyers cup

4)Rustin- what they lack in expeirence they make up for with solid all around game play, look for them to go deep in the FC

5) Henderson- best forward pair in the ICHSL South (Latta,Cottle) weak defense might be this teams down fall

6)Springfeild Can play with anybody in the leauge just lack consistanty but could ride solid goaltending into late rounds of the FC

AA:
Conestoga- looks to be the strongest AA team, 2 great forwards (Masantionio's), solid goaltneding and good coaching should win Stoga a flyers cup AA title

Haveford High- Big game experice and a big win over O'hara shows me that HH is not out of the running for a thrid striaght AA crown

Central Dauphin- For Carl Wood..

Pennsburry and Pennridge and CR south look to be the only teams in the SHSHL and the LBSHL leauges that look legit aside from the La Salle teams who are not flyers cup elligable

AAA-
La Salle- looks to be the strongest all around team in AAA and prob have the best goaltender in the deleware valley

O'hara- beating malvern solidfied O'hara legitimancy this year, with not many returners Kevin Murry, Kevin Burke and Sean Coll must step up if O'hara wants to repeat

Malvern- With Lassik one of the best defensemen in the del-val and a good core of players around him don't count malvern out

Holy Ghost Prep- lots of firepower led by Sorka but weak defense might check HGP out before the final round

GA- Good coaching and very solid goal tedning has kept GA alive this year but noone has steped up to handle the teams score yet since the depature of Brian O'neil

Sorry that i left out NJ teams i haven't seen any play this year so i didn't add them in my rankings

A - If PV plays smartly and keeps their head I think they are the best of the ICSHL and EHSHL teams. McGarry is a great player but I just don't think they have enough guys around him.

AA - The HH/Stoga game was a great one earlier in the season and if they meet again should be another great battle.

AAA - Lasalle should win without any najor issues.

FWIW
My experience is limited to ICSHL and EHSHL. So take it for what it is.

My only concern about La Salle is they only beat GA 3-2 and O'hara had a fire lit from under them after getting torched by HH

now maybe la salle took GA lightly but i doubt Wally would accept his boys play anything but thier best Vs. Gump concidering the way the GA La Salle games have gone the past few years

that being said La Salle is still my first pick for flyers cup

I'm not ready yet for my final picks however I agree that one of the favorites will take a drastic plunge and lose early.

AAA- LaSalle is really deep with three lines that can compete. I would think O'hara would be the biggest threat and could pull one off if the time comes. Goalies could be a factor?

AA- Haverford is obviously strong but they lack depth which could haunt them in the big game. Also at no fault to them they don't face real stong competition to keep them sharp when they face the stronger teams. Stoga or Washington Township are two dangerous teams who will be there in the end to compete. Mind set, focus and game preperation could be the keys in these battles.

A- Henderson,Kennett,PV,Interboro and perhaps Marple will be at each other. I think it could ultimately come down to PV,Kennett & Henderson.

Funny thing, from what I see the A division has more talented teams then the AA in the Eastern & Intercounty. I see at most 3 strong AA teams and at least 6 strong A teams.

I appoligize as well that I don't know much about the other leagues. Bucks, Jersy Ect. anybody have any scoop??

interboro is a team who can be dangrous with Fario and Senetore, i dont really see marple as a condender

from the past few years i would take a champs in a game over the AA champs, atleast the radnor and sprigfeild teams of 02, 03, and 04 would have beaten the AA champs of those years

La Salle "only" beat GA 3-2....but they outshot them something like 3-1.

Shawnee has a shot at one of the top three seeds at A....Washington Twp should also come in with a top seed at AA.

Just wanted to add..i was staying away from putting stuff about cherokee but i just wanted to say..to put in the fact that 3 of the 4 games vs twp. and shawnee we outshot them by 10 or more shots..and basically came down to they finished that and we didnt..especially looking at the 2nd shawnee game were it was pretty lop sided..i just wanted to put that in there..cause i see all the talk about twp. and such..twp shawnee and cherokee will all have good battles going for that championship

With apologies to S. JErsey since I haven't seen them play.

AAA - LaSalle is the class of this group and the only ones who can prevent them from winning themselves.

AA - Haverford has risen to every challenge this season since the Conestoga loss. Look for a repeat.

FYI - Masciatonio is out for the season with a separated shoulder. Shame for Stoga. Could change the balance in AA.

A - Wide Open. PV obviously is strong, and is Kennett strong and solid as well. Watch Springfield - their D and goaltending are as strong as anyone at any level -- a huge key in the Cup. Hershey and some others have to prove they can play the kind of game it takes to win in the FC, but there are definitely some sleepers out there like Henderson, Rustin, etc

Let me try a little SHSHL handicapping, since most if this is slanted to the ICSHL/EHSHL. Overall, I think it's gonna be a down year for us. CB South and Abington have been strong in the past but both won't get a bid this year. And we have not been strong at A since Hatboro-Horsham went to the final 4 in '04.

AA
Rock South has the best chance to go deep. They are well balanced, have good coaching and goaltending. Their schedule hasn't been real tough and they lost big to Pennsbury.
McDevitt has the best scoring punch (DeChristofano, Manero and Pisko) but their bench is very short and the goaltending lacks experience. A win, maybe 2 but that's it.
Pennridge is good but has not been able to put away their opponents (5 ties). Capable of doing some damage if they come to play. AJ Moyer is a threat and Kyle Richards is solid in goal.
CB West and Souderton are hovering around .500 and a bid is not a lock. If one of the two gets in, I'd bet on West. Chatley, LeClair and DeFelice are kicking it up.

A
Upper Dublin may be the surprise here, although their lack of experience at this level will probably keep them from going too deep. They have only been playing varsity for 2 years. Echevarria is strong in goal and they can score (Wes Duncan and Josh Getzoff 20+ goals). They weren't impressive in early non-league games but did score a big upset over Hershey despite being outshot 41-16.
Wissahickon will be another dangerous player but there is a considerable dropoff in talent after Jayson Ritchey (46 goals in 20 games). They went 0 - 4 in non-league games against Perkiomen Valley, Hershey, Methacton and Lower Dauphin. Might be able to win one but if opponents can control Ritchey they won't go much further.
Plymouth-Whitemarsh should be in the mix as well. Wins over lower level opponents Pius X, Conwell-Egan and Warwick but got crushed by Methacton. They do have 6 of the top 10 scorers in the division, led by Corey Hockman (51 pts). Capable of pulling an upset.

Good luck to all those that are lucky enough to get a bid.
