really appropriate to assign the same weight to a LaSalle and a bottom Tier AAA team? a Perk Valley and a weaker A team? A strong AA team with and a weak one?

All the AAA teams start out the year with the same power point rating (1.40). LaSalle's power point rating is now up to 1.79 and Salesianum is down to 1.28(don't look at the "AAA only" section of the rankings, look at the section with the AAA teams' overall record). That reflects the cumulative record of each team. Beating LaSalle is the equivalent of earning 3.6 points in the "weighted" winning%. I also DO downgrade weak teams that can't win 25% of their schedule. Manually upgrading teams based on winning--beyond the factored power point increases--seems to me to be directing the result a little to much. The Class to Class weights 1.0/1.20/1.40 are bigger steps than the typical District PIAA steps A/AA/AAA/AAAA which tend to be 100/110/120/130. So, do we decrease the gap between A and AA (1.00-1.10) and increase the space between AA and AAA (1.10-1.50)? Its a serious thought. That would give A teams with wins and ties over AAA teams a real bonus in the ranking, though...

To Carl and Matt: could the answer to Matt's Henderson/PV question be that PV has played the more difficult schedule (10 opponents at .500+ vs Henderson's 7)? As an admitted PV partisan, that's all I can think of that might outweigh the early season Henderson win.

Matt could you post the current rankings for the "A" Flyers cup if possible?
Just wanted to see where we (Unionville) stand

I got an email from my coach saying we got a "bid" or someting but we are not in it yet, what does this mean?

Also does being in the director cup (we're 17) hurt our chances

I have no idea what he ment by a bid, you are not in the Directors Cup however your in the Presidents. So good luck v Methacton haha, better get Kelley and Milana some Redbull before the game or something. The first two games of the playoffs are before the RANKINGS commetee meets for the Flyers cup. So if you look decent against Methacton (Or Win) you have a better chance of going to the Flyers cup.

Plus playing out there, just makes it even tougher.

So I learned about teams which automatically earn a spot in the Flyers Cup because of the league they play in tonight.

It would really stink to be a lower seeded bubble team and then miss out simply because other bubble teams won automatic bids. Frowner

Hey Pez, I found out what you ment by "bid."
All that means is that your one of the teams that has a shot at making the Flyers cup and they need to have all your paper work in order incase you do get in.

So basically if you win out or at least beat everyone your suposed to the rest of the way it looks like you will make it in. No promises though.

We meet on Sunday at Noon. As soon as the seedings are done, I will call them into my brother and he will post them on the Message board.

a lot of really good matchups in the new format, it had a lot of question marks but a marked improvement over the same old same old.
