Gaffney is a little better than Ignatuk, at least it showed in Quaker games, but I think that it would be a pretty even game LaSalle would prob win, because like someone said, they have been playing together for two years, anymore,
On a different note I do not think Tier 1 vs. Tier 2 matters, 2-3 years ago, definatly, but know I think it is parents who are willing to pay more $, thinking that their kid is the next Crosby or Ovechkin. You never know, one of these Minuteman could be, but lets think of odds? It is like many people who spend a lot of money and play junior or go play in the NAHL or something, yea it would be a great experience, but in five years you see them in mens league and you talk about HS hockey |

AAA and AA dont matter. Theres a lot of good players who either just didnt want to travel away from home every weekend, or just didnt want to play hockey at all on weekends. Look at Blaker, hes arguable the best D man in the league and was asked to play on junior Flyers MIDAAA but choose not to play club hockey this year. The West Chester team would be a lot deeper, they could roll 4 lines that have 3 players on them that could score. Lasalle only has about 6 players that can really score. Plus the first line of Latta, Cottle, and Lamont would be the best line on the ice. All 3 of them are AAA players (wahoo) and there all nasty and tough. Lamont and Latta would bowl over Lasalles D and Cottle would set them up. Lamonts on the damn USHL list for Gods sake. Plus on D your top three players are big strong and great puck movers and the other 3 a very good also. And as for team West Chester beating Malvern, I believe that was the first game they played together and after that they went on to beat a team that has beaten some of the top teams in the Midwestern Prep League. Thats not regular high school hockey, University School beat Shady Side Academy, Hoosac, and tied Gilmour and St. Francis and where 21-11-2 overall with a very tough schedule.They also beat Malvern 8-1 and 7-1. West Chester beat the University school 5-0 and than 2-1 in the championship. |

hmm raha isn't a homer for WC teams huh..
I do like the WC teams and i don't want to seem like i am ripping them BUT if Jr Flyers Midget AAA team couldn't beat the Minutemen team which has Cottle and Latta on it, and the rest of the team would be better than the WC team, how on do you figure a team with not as good players would beat it? Its one thing to support your own team, it is quiet another to ignore talent and by saying "Lamont and Latta would bowl over La Salle's D'" is quiet a statement. Also saying La salle only has 6 players that can score is frankly insulting to them. |

Not taking sides here, just pointing out that on top of their AAA schedule, LaSalle played St Mary's twice, Wyoming Sem, Delbarton, Hill School, St Augustines, Lawrenceville, St Joes (NY), Fairfield Prep, North Alleghany, St Edwards twice, Don Bosco, Bergen Catholic and Christian Brothers.
With that sick schedule, they went 30-1-2 with a team GAA of 1.06......again, that was 1.06!!! |

i think that everyone is underestimating the talent that the west chester team would have, you also have to realize that with this christmas tournament they were missing kids almost every game.and they still won

As most people already know I am a big ICSHL "fan", I spend alot of time at iceline and i have spent a lot of time watching all 3 of these teams which I know are all very impressive. I even said in this post that that team would finish 2nd or 3rd in AAA, so if that is underestimating them than WOW. I also said they would give La Salle a good game, but i think its outrageous to claim that La Salle only has 6 good forwards and that the west chester team would have 12. And that anybody would be able to bowl over La Salle defense. Nobody in AAA has been able to do it yet, that inculdes Saravelli, Sean Coll, Kevin Murrary..ect ect.

i didnt say anybody would bowl over anybody all i said was i think they are being underestimated
|

Raha said that Lamont and Latta would bowl over La Salle defense..
Who has said anything about underestimating them? |

Didn't that WC Iceline tourney team also beat St. Mary's twice and who were the goalies? Assuming Donzanti and Mattern.
|

they beat st marys twice
|

and i think donzati was there goalie

Your exactly right. Very good players play at both tiers. Ian Barnes is easily one of the best high school players, and he doesnt play club. It is however a measuring stick when your comparing a team that has been together for 2 years, and most of the team plays on the national bound Minutemen, with a fictional team in a fictional game. Ok, Latta, Cottle and Lamont are very good players, however the Schmidt-Tyson-Denczi line or teh Berkle-Wallin-Zoldy line are both better, and have immediate chemistry. Your sadly mistaken if you think that line would just show up and dominate Lasalle. Only 6 players that can score? Thats alot of players to watch out for. No one has "bowled" over Lasalle's defense this year, is this a joke? Congrats to Lamont being on the USHL draft list, but so are Berkle, Schmidt, Tyson, Denczi, Wallin, Cruice, Antoni, Pascal, and Varley. And by the way Im sure West Chester could play with 4 lines, but Lasalle could play with 6 if they really wanted to Plus on D your top three players are big strong and great puck movers and the other 3 a very good also. Yea, and Lasalle has 6 that can skate, play physical and move the puck. West Chester beat the University school 5-0 and than 2-1 in the championship They still beat Malvern 5-4 the only time they played. This is a fun debate, a game will never happen, so this is all we'll have to go on. Raha, have you ever seen Lasalle play? By some of your comments it sounds like your a big West Chester fan, but youve never seen Lasalle in action. They are a great TEAM with very talented players, thats been playing together for 2 years, and works great as a group! Im sticking to my original post that Lasalle would win by 3 or 4 goals at least. |

fyi.....the Quaker 16UAA team in the 06-07 season played and defeated the VFMM 16UAAA team at Iceline 16UAAA Silverstick. Gaffney, Ignatuk and Gosik line more than held their own in that game. That Quaker team did not have Latta, Cottle and Lamont on it. Obviously LaSalle would have an advantage in being a seasoned team in this fantasy game but to say there would be a big differential in talent level is simply wrong. |
||||
|
The were a number of changes on the VFMM team between U16 and the U18 team so I don't think this holds any water either.
|
||||
|
Im sure they did well, their all good players, but that was a year and a half ago, and Lasalle is a much better team, with alot of different players then that Minutemen team. |
