I think fixing the pool might have tired Rick out leading to the bad call on the icing.
Just kidding Rick!!
The real problem was that Shanahan jumped on us from the start. If not for our goaltender this one would have been a rout early. In the second we got our legs under us and got back in the game. I thought we showed some heart once they scored with 1:49 left we came right back at 1:01. They deserved the win in OT and by no means was the "questionable call" responsible for the outcome it was the way we played or more aptly the way they made us play early on. Also their goalie came up huge in big spots for them also. Overall it was a real treat to watch both those goalies play. Hats off to Shanahan and good luck with Malvern
lol, no sweat Mark. I enjoy getting my chops busted.
Regarding the icing call, Mark had a totally valid question regarding the icing call and as soon as I realized he had a question about the call I went to the bench to explain our call. The puck was shot hard and just a bit off the ice. It literally went just over the Shanahan defenseman's stick, who made a legitimate play on the puck. Had the puck been on the ice or touched his stick, the icing would have absolutely been waved off.
To Mark's credit, once I explained what was seen by both officials, he ended the discussion immediately and we never heard another word about it. The Shanahan bench responded in the exact same manner regarding the penalty shot. As an official, we expect coaches to want or need explanations of our calls from time to time, it would be nice if all coaches we dealt with were as professional as these two benches were during this game.

You are 100% correct about Marc being a nice guy, but I still stand by my statement that it would be nice if all coaches were as professional as these guys were on Tuesday. Both benches listened to our explanations and regardless of whether they agreed or not, accepted them on their face value.
We even had a nice conversation with some of the Shanahan parents following the game where they asked about a few of the calls we made. They were as professional as the coaching staffs from the game. It was pretty refreshing to be honest.
0-0 in the first, Malvern came out and scored two quick goals in the beginning of the 2nd, the 2nd goal was a very nice shot from a Malvern defensemen at the point, which went top shelf right over the Shanhan goalie left shoulder.
Later in the period, Nick Campanale goes on a short handed breakaway and puts a nice move on the Shanhan goalie to make it 3-0
Malvern seemed to dominate most of the game. Shanhan player got misconduct in the 2nd for fighting, seemed to be a pretty stupid penalty.
