Two questions - first off, is the whole roster going? I remember last year they played short (but still managed to win the tournament). Secondly, who else is in the tournament, and who do the Explorers get first? I tried the Meadville hockey website but didn't see the tournament match ups (surprisingly, they usually do a pretty good job on their site). Thanks.

Perhaps now they get the respect of Western PA who has them ranked unbelievably #2 in the state behind someone named Pine Richland. I'm not sure who this Pine Richland is, but they must be one hell of a hockey team to be ranked over La Salle. I realize there's a Western PA bias to the rankings, but North Allegheny was allegedly ranked 3rd as the 2nd best team in the West. I guess there's no secret about the Explorers in the Bulldog Invitational anymore.

Who is Pine Richland? 2-time defending state champions at AA, made the move to AAA this year and are 13-0. Whether they're the "best" team at AAA in the state or not, that's still pretty impressive. There's as little bias as possible in the rankings - would you be able to do the rankings at each level (other than placing Lasalle at #1 in AAA)? To the best of my understanding, Matt and his counterpart in the West, Jeff Mauro, get together on the rankings. Matt sees the East and Jeff sees the West.

Who really cares about the rankings in January anyway? Let it serve as motivation for Lasalle where it actually counts (on the ice), win the Flyers Cup, win the State Championship, and smile at the #1 ranking at the end of the season!

OK, I'll rephrase - has Pine Richland beaten three defending state champions this year? Who have they played? I see from the Pa state site they lost pre-season to a single A team in a shoot out.

Update - Tyson had the trick and Denczi and Zoldy had two a piece last night in the 11-0 win. Schmidt (although not a top 25 player) only had five assists.

The Explorers beat St. Edward's of Cleveland this morning 1-0 to all but assure themselves of a trip to the semi's. Berkle had the goal, Pyne with the shut-out.

They get McDowell tonight. 16-0-2 right now. I would think Antoni plays tonight's game.

No. I wonder if Western PA and Ohio will look at the Eastern PA differently or will we still get no respect.

Matt - even you have to admit you're watching something special here - 18 goals for, none against in pool play...I know - because it's a tournament it doesn't count, right?

Plym-20....I've had La Salle ranked #1 from the start of the season. What else more can I do to please you?

I never said that "the games" didnt count, I said I don't look at them when choosing players for the top 25 or the All-Breakaway teams....so please don't put words into my mouth! I've never said or written a bad word about La Salle...If you'd like to stop by, I will give you every copy of breakaway from the past 8 years, I defy you to find one bad sentence written about La Salle in 8 years....don't make it look like I am against La Salle because I didnt put six of thier players on the top 25. GROW UP, you said you graduated in 1989 at one point........
