This move just shows that Holmgren is just as old school as Clarke was. The Flyers are in last place, have the least amount of goals for, the most goals against, and who do we get? Someone who scored 10 goals over 4 seasons w/ the Flyers and 14 goals over 6 seasons with the Ducks.

I would think that Holmgren's first move would be to find someone who can put the puck in the net! I don't think this move bodes well for his job security.

"Todd is our ideal player,'' Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said in making the announcement.

Mike Rathje is by far one of the worst hockey players I ever watched at any level. He is so slow and disfunctional its pathetic. He is one of the biggest tumors the flyers have and has to go if the flyers think they will win another game.

games played 17, Goals Zippo, Assist one, points one, +/- -8, Shots 13.
Getting in the way of his teammates 100%

Hatcher is just as bad but at least he goon it up if he can catch you. Rathje not only stinks, for a 6 foot plus guy he dont have any guts.

Right on, Big Jim, you were reading my mind!!

Rathje is stealing money on a nightly basis. Why does he even wear shoulder pads, he never uses them. It also looks like he doesn't have the heart or physical capabilities to hustle once in a while.

I could accept mistakes and tentative play from a young Lars Jonsson, but not from a veteran who supposedly knows better.

Time for those in charge to realize the guy is either very hurt or plain old doesn't get it. More Lars and less Lerch!!!

Typical of the team that Umburger had to satisfy his own personal grudge with Campbell from the Sabers last night, to get back for the awesome hit he received last year from him. Extra penalty to Umburger, Sabres cash in on power play, and another loss for the Flyers. Can we get a new braintrust in here ?

Flyers Acquire Rights to Timonen and Hartnell

The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have acquired the rights to 5'10", 195-pound defenseman Kimmo Timonen (KEE-moh TEEM-oh-nehn) and 6'2", 210-pound left wing Scott Hartnell from the Nashville Predators in exchange for the 23 overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, according to General Manager Paul Holmgren.

Now all they need to do is draft a stud defensive defenseman with a shot and they will be set with Timonen and Kukonen? (is that how you spell it?)They better not throw away their 2nd overall pick

kukonen may not make the team next year. there arent any defensemen in this draft that will play in the nhl next year.

probably timonen, pitkanen, hatcher, picard, gauthier, coburn. gauthier may be gone though too. parent will get a shot too.

I ripped him when they brought in Fedoruk, and still hope he is not on the roster come October - but GREAT job by Holmgren over the last six months. Actually looking forward to the season.
